THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1984 - Michael Jordan signed a seven-year contract to play basketball with the Chicago Bulls.

MENU DHS: Breakfast at the All Student Center:   All DHS students have the opportunity to enjoy a free breakfast at school. Come to the All Student Center from 7:45 to 8:15 AM and during the mid-morning snack break each day for a free breakfast.

  *   Breakfast Served Daily:  Cereal w/Graham Cracker, Breakfast Pizza, Assorted Breakfast Sandwiches, Scones, Breakfast Burrito, Chicken & Cheese Quesadilla, Pancakes w/ Sausage, Assorted Muffins, Chicken & Biscuit Slider, Yogurt Parfait w/Graham Cracker.
  *   Grab & Go Hot Chocolate & Muffin & Fruit Cinnamon Rolls.
Lunch: Pepper jack Double Cheese Burger W/ Guacamole served with Cajun Fries or a Grilled Vegetable Sandwich on WG Hoagie w/ Garlic Aioli

ATHLETICS: Attention All DHS students:  are you interested in participating in lunchtime games, sports, or open gym?  Lunchtime intramurals begin next week on Sept 16.  Intramural activities will be held at lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.  All students who wish to participate any time during this school year, must have a Participation Form on file.  Please stop by the front office to pick up this form.  You cannot participate in any lunch time activities without completing this form first!  Email Ms. Crawford with any questions!

ACADEMICS/OPORTUNITIES/EVENTS: AP Exams are $99 per test. Online sales are 8/28 to 10/11. The new AP registration process will require students to complete a two-step process for registering for their AP exam(s). First, students will sign in at my.apcollegeboard.org after getting a join code from their AP teacher or the testing coordinator. Second, students will go to www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/050730<http://www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/050730> to pay for their exam. If you are in need of financial assistance, please contact your counselor. The PSAT/NMQST is Saturday, 10/19. The cost is $25.00. There are a limited number of tests available. If you feel this is a financial hardship, please contact your counselor. ATTENDANCE: College Visits-Only Seniors will receive a maximum of two days as excused Absences. What do you have to do to get absences excused?
·         Students need to submit to the attendance office documentation 3 days prior to the college visit.
·          Students need to provide an appropriate documentation from the College or University they are visiting.
·          College visits needs to be pre-approved by an administrator.  Questions come to the Attendance office for clarification.

COMMITTEES: Please come to the Social Climate Committee meeting on Thursday this week at lunch in the Library West Conference Room.  The committee is comprised of students and staff committed to making our school a safe and inviting place for all.

CLUBS:
Science Bowl will hold an introductory meeting today, Thursday, at lunch in Mr. Van Myuden's room S-9. Stop by to hear more about competing and learning science.
Do you want to be the one to bring the hype at this year's Homecoming rally? Come to ASC 100 at lunch this Friday to audition to be one of our Emcee.
Hey DHS! Interested in joining the largest student led community organization? Come to Key Club International. Intro meeting today during lunch in S-12 to learn more!

Hey DHS! Interested in joining Red Cross? We do blood drives, disaster prep, and other health care related events. Come to our 1st meeting on September 12 in L-27 during lunch to learn more

The first meeting of the Chinese Language & Culture Club will be this upcoming Monday, September 16 at lunch in S-4. All students are welcome to join us for this Mid-Autumn Celebration and cultural experiences.

Hey. Hey. It's Friendship Day!  If you forget to turn in your permission slip, bring it with you to Friendship Day on Friday September 13th. All aboard the Friendship Ship! Toot toot!



CAREERS: College visits begin this week in the Career Center!  Colleges visiting this week include Colorado State, University of Idaho, Pomona, Pitzer and more! Come to the Career Center in the ASC to attend a college visit and see the list of all colleges visiting our high school this fall.

The Sacramento Area Council of Governments is offering its Youth Leadership Academy, where high school students will learn about local government, network with local, state and national representatives and gain leadership and professional development experience.  Deadline to apply is September 30.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

If you are interested in community service, social service and personal growth, you may want to join The Youth Leadership Davis program.  Students learn how to be community leaders and will be trained as interns at the Davis Interfaith Rotating Winter Shelter.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

High school tutors are needed for Holmes Junior High's after school homework club one or two days a week from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m.  Homework club starts Monday, September 16.  Juniors or seniors are preferred.  Come to the Career Center for more information.


Are you looking for a job?  Konditorei Austrian Pastry Café is hiring weekend dishwashers, and the new El Patio Mexican restaurant and Burger IM are currently hiring.  Come to the Career Center for more information about these job opportunities.


Are you interested in being a Walker Creek CABIN LEADER?  If so, cabin leaders are needed for Montgomery Elementary Walker Creek trip December 2-6.  Cabin leaders must work well with children, enjoy being in the outdoors, and be in good standing with the high school.  Deadline to apply is September 25.  Come to the Career Center for an application.
