THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1882 - Thomas Edison's Pearl Street electric power station began operations in New York City. It was the first display of a practical electrical lighting system.

MENU DHS: Breakfast at the All Student Center:   All DHS students have the opportunity to enjoy a free breakfast at school. Come to the All Student Center from 7:45 to 8:15 AM and during the mid-morning snack break each day for a free breakfast.

  *   Breakfast Served Daily:  Cereal w/Graham Cracker, Breakfast Pizza, Assorted Breakfast Sandwiches, Scones, Breakfast Burrito, Chicken & Cheese Quesadilla, Pancakes w/ Sausage, Assorted Muffins, Chicken & Biscuit Slider, Yogurt Parfait w/Graham Cracker.

ATHLETICS: ALL DJUSD Student Athletes – DSHS Athletics will be hosting our annual concussion and cardiac arrest information night on Wed. Sept. 11 in the DSHS All Student Center starting at 7:30pm. Dr. Dan Parker will be presenting on both topics as they relate to student athletes. All DJSUD Athletes and Families in grades 6-12 are invited at no cost! ACADEMICS/OPORTUNITIES/EVENTS: Advanced Placement Exams (AP):  AP Exams are $99 per test. Online sales are 8/28 to 10/11. The new AP registration process will require students to complete a two-step process for registering for their AP exam(s). First, students will sign in at my.apcollegeboard.org after getting a join code from their AP teacher or the testing coordinator. Second, students will go to www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/050730<http://www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/050730> to pay for their exam. If you are in need of financial assistance, please contact your counselor. The PSAT/NMQST is Saturday, 10/19. The cost is $25.00. There are a limited number of tests available. If you feel this is a financial hardship, please contact your counselor. ATTENDANCE: College Visits-Only Seniors will receive a maximum of two days as excused Absences. What do you have to do to get absences excused?
·         Students need to submit to the attendance office documentation 3 days prior to the college visit.
·          Students need to provide an appropriate documentation from the College or University they are visiting.
·          College visits needs to be pre-approved by an administrator.  Questions come to the Attendance office for clarification.

CLUBS: Interested in joining a great service club with cool projects? Want something on your College Apps? Well then, CSF is the perfect club for you to join! Registration will be outside Mrs. O’Brien’s room, P-13, during lunch from September 9th-20th. To register, please bring last semester’s report card, $5, and a completed registration form which can be found in Mrs. O’ Brien’s room. Returning members, please also bring your green hours sheets from last semester.

CAREERS: Davis Senior High School's Career Center is now open for the school year! Come to the Career Center in the All Student Center for help with college planning, applying for scholarships and financial aid, job and volunteer opportunities, special student activities, study abroad programs, and much more!  Students and parents are welcome to visit the Career Center Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
It’s that time of year when college representatives will be visiting the Career Center to meet with interested students! The first college visit of the year is Johns Hopkins University in the Career Center on Monday, September 9 at 9:15 am. College visits provide an easy opportunity to get information about colleges you are interested in attending.  The list of colleges visiting this year is posted in the Career Center window and on Naviance, where you can sign up to attend a visit.  Come to the Career Center if you need help with Naviance or for more information about college visits!
Juniors interested in learning what it’s like to be an FBI agent can now apply for the FBI Teen Academy held on Friday, November 22 at the FBI headquarters in Roseville.  Students will learn about FBI careers, the types of cases the FBI investigates, and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle free of crime, drugs, gangs and violence.  Deadline to apply is October 18.  Come to the Career Center for more information.
