THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1892 - William "Pudge" Heffelfinger became the first professional football player when he was paid a $500 bonus for helping the Allegheny Athletic Association beat the Pittsburgh Athletic Club.
MENU DHS: Breakfast Served Daily:  Cereal w/Graham Cracker, Breakfast Pizza, Assorted Breakfast Sandwiches, Scones, Breakfast Burrito, Chicken & Cheese Quesadilla, Pancakes w/ Sausage, Assorted Muffins, Chicken & Biscuit Slider, Yogurt Parfait w/Graham Cracker. Grab & Go Hot Chocolate & Muffin & Fruit Cinnamon Rolls.
Lunch: "Street Tacos" Chicken, Fish or Carnita or a Chicken & Cheese Quesadilla
ATHLETICS: Girls in grades 9-12 interested in DSHS Girl Soccer this season:  Tryouts will start Thursday, November 14:  Varsity 4:00-5:30; JV 5:00-6:30 on the DHS grass soccer field. Bring cleats, shin guards, running shoes and water. Must be cleared with DSHS Athletics before tryouts.
Girls in grades 9-12 who are interested in Davis High Softball are invited to a meeting Tuesday, Nov. 12 @ 6pm in the DSHS Library. Come meet new coaches Tyler Gibson and Tracy Frank and find out about the upcoming season. Off season workouts will be held Mon thru Fri from 4-5:30pm at the varsity field beginning Wed. Nov. 13. Girls must be cleared with Davis High Athletics in order to participate.

ACADEMICS/OPORTUNITIES/EVENTS: AP EXAMS: AP Exams will not be ordered for student's exam status at myap.collegeboard.org that are set to No or Undecided.
Attention all DHS instrumental soloists this is a note to prepare you for this year's DHS Concerto Competition: The annual DHS Orchestra Concerto Competition will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. DHS Richard Brunelle Performance Hall. It is open to the public, free admission.
The competition is only open to those string, woodwind, brass, or percussion students currently enrolled in the DHS Orchestra and or Band Programs.  Pianists must also be enrolled in the Orchestra, Band, or Choir Programs to be eligible. A musician who has won this competition in a previous year may not compete again. The winner of this competition will be given the honor of performing with the DHS Symphony Orchestra as well as a check for $500.00.A sign-up sheet and informational flyer are now on the wall in PA-3. The deadline to sign up is Friday, November 22, 2019. Blue Devil Book Drive! Bring a book to school and make a difference for families in need.  The Blue Devil Book Drive collects children's books for the STEAC *pronounced STAKE * (Short Term Emergency Aid Committee) Holiday Program.  We'll accept new or gently-used books for children of all ages: from babies to teenagers. Books for older readers and books in Spanish are especially needed. Several English teachers will have collection boxes in their classrooms.

YEARBOOK: Attention Senior Parents! Make sure your senior has a keepsake of this important year. Deadlines for purchasing a yearbook and/or a commemorative ad are coming up! Go to the school website at http://dshs.djusd.net/ and click on "Yearbook Website" on the left to purchase a yearbook directly from Walsworth.  If you are not sure if you have purchased a yearbook already, Please check the list posted outside the Finance window .Prices and deadlines for yearbook pre-sales are as follows: Until Dec. 31: $95,Until Jan. 17: $110. A limited number of books will be available for sale in May for $125. PURCHASE A SENIOR AD Share your memories and a congratulatory message with your graduate by purchasing a senior ad. Go to the school website and, under the "Student Life" tab, click on "Yearbook Website" on the left. Scroll down to find the "Senior Ad" link. You will submit text and photos; the yearbook staff will design it to match the rest of the ads in the section. Senior ads may be submitted between now and Friday, Jan. 10. No senior ads can be purchased after Jan. 10. Here are the prices: Full page ad: $280, 1/2 page ad: $175, 1/4 page ad: $100, 1/8 page ad: $65

SENIORS: Would like help completing your financial aid application?  If so, come to the free CASH FOR COLLEGE WORKSHOP TONIGHT from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the All Student Center, where trained volunteers will help you complete financial aid applications, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and California Dream Act application.  All seniors and their parents are invited to attend.  Come to the Career Center for more information.
