MENU DHS:

  *   Breakfast Served Daily:  Cereal w/Graham Cracker, Breakfast Pizza, Assorted Breakfast Sandwiches, Scones, Breakfast Burrito, Chicken & Cheese Quesadilla, Pancakes w/ Sausage, Assorted Muffins, Chicken & Biscuit Slider, Yogurt Parfait w/Graham Cracker.

Lunch: Happy Burrito Day! The ASC Café is now offering burrito bowls in addition to our burritos. We are now serving chicken, beef and nacho cheese, bean and cheese, and veggie (vegan) burritos!

Calling all Artists! If you are interested in donating art or have pieces available to donate, come to the Art for Care meeting in L-27. We will also be introducing new activities.

Are you interested in pursuing a career in Fashion, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Business, Marketing, Video Game Design or Interior Design?  If so, a college admissions rep from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) will be in the Career Center at lunch to discuss all these majors and more!

In-person sales are 2/18 to 3/1 @ lunch only at the Finance Office. If you are in need of financial assistance, please contact your counselor immediately.

Valerie Red-Horse will be visiting Davis Senior High School on Thursday, February 7th.  She will be screening her film Mankiller which details the life of Wilma Mankiller, a Native American activist and the first female chief of the Cherokee Nation. The film will begin in Brunelle Theater at 6 p.m. and then following the film Ms. Red-Horse will give some remarks and take questions about Wilma Mankiller. This event is hosted by the DSHS PTA and the RSJ classes.

CLUBS:
Senior: remind your parents that Monday, January 28th is the LAST DAY to purchase a senior add for the yearbook. GO to the school website to purchase yours!

The AP Alumni Quiz for students in Mr. Williams' APUSH class last year has been postponed to January 31st at lunch in P-14.  Please prepare and come ready to win an amazing prize.

CAREERS:
The Rotary Club is offering two all-expense paid summer camps in June for high school juniors: Camp Royal leadership-training camp is filled with ideas and strategies to help students become more effective leaders. Camp Venture is a motivational summer camp for students interested in pursuing a career in business, particularly as entrepreneurs. The deadline to apply is March 15.  Come to the Career Center for Camp Royal and Camp Venture applications.
If you are planning to attend medical school, you should attend Phi Delta Epsilon's free Pre-Medical Youth Conference on Saturday, April 20 from 9:00 - 4:30 at UC Davis. You will hear from professionals discuss the field of medicine, participate in interactive workshops, learn how to take blood pressure, perform a suture procedure and more.  Admission and lunch are free!  Come to the Career Center for an event flyer.
Juniors interested in learning what it's like to be an FBI agent can apply for the Spring Sacramento FBI Teen Academy held on Friday, April 12 at the FBI headquarters in Roseville.  At the academy, students will learn about FBI careers, the types of cases the FBI investigates, hidden dangers of social media, and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle free of crime, drugs, gangs and violence. Deadline to apply is March 11. Come to the Career Center for an application.
If you are a junior boy or junior girl interested in government, come to the Career Center to apply for the American Legion Boys State and Girls State all-expense paid summer camps. At the camps, students will actively participate in all phases of creating and running a working government. Those who apply must have leadership skills and an interest in community and government. Deadline to apply is February 20. Applications are in the Career Center.
