TODAY:

The annual DSHS Football Parent/Guardian Meeting is scheduled in the DSHS Library at 6:30 p.m. This is a mandatory meeting for parents/guardians where they will get information on the benefits of joining this football program and discover how the expectations and yearly schedule can assist their child in being successful in school, football, the community and in life by being part of something that they will never forget.


Attention track and field athletes, if you missed the informational meeting on 1/9 and are interested in trying out for the 2019 team, please attend a makeup meeting during lunch on today in room L-25.

ATHLETICS:
Boys Frosh Soccer vs Vista Del Lago,7:15

Attention Basketball FANS! Break the Record Night is coming Friday Jan. 18th! We are expecting a very large crowd as the boys and girls basketball teams take on Cosumnes Oaks. All games will be held in the North (Big) Gym. Girls JV 4:00, Girls varsity 5:30, and Boys Varsity at 7pm. With limited seating we will be pre-selling tickets at the link below. If tickets are sold out online, there will be no option for purchase at the door. Presale tickets will be electronic so all you will need is to show your purchased ticket on your mobile device when you arrive at the game. Don't wait! Get your tickets to ensure your seat. Students with DHS ASB Cards - Please pick up your FREE ticket in advance on Tuesday Jan. 15th and Wed. Jan 16th at lunch. Show your ASB card at the finance office to receive your entry ticket for the game. Students that do not get their tickets in advance may not get into the game if it sells out prior to game day. Students that lose their ticket will NOT receive an additional free ticket and will need to purchase a ticket online.

ACADEMICS/OPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:

In-person sales are 2/18 to 3/1 @ lunch only at the Finance Office. If you are in need of financial assistance, please contact your counselor immediately.

CLUBS:
Hey Seniors! Remind your parents the time to purchase Senior Ads. Make sure yours is submitted before January 25th. For more information, visit the DSH website. Don't be left out of the yearbook!

Applications are now available for next year's ASB officer elections. Pick up an application in the ASC-100 (the Student Government room). Applications are due January 16th. Elections and Speeches will take place on February 1, 2019.

Travel to Korea! Make a lifelong connection abroad! Please join the DHS Cultural Exchange Club this Wednesday at lunch in room O-4 (Mr. Curley's room). Everyone is invited to learn about our Exchange Program with Sangju, Korea.

Hey hey hey it's Friendship Day! Don't forget to turn in your friendship day permission slips by Wednesday the 16th. if you forget to do so, bring the permission slip with you to Friendship Day on Friday the 18th. All aboard the Friendship Ship! Toot toot!

Hey Key Clubbers! We will be having a general meeting this Wednesday during lunch in S-12. We will discuss service projects and details on the upcoming officer elections.

CAREERS

The City of Davis is looking for a volunteer basketball coach for Montgomery Elementary's 3rd and 4th grade boy's team.   Students must be at least 16 years old.  Come to the Career Center for information on how to apply.


The City of Davis has two part-time summer jobs available for a lifeguard and a swim instructor.  Applicants must be at least 15 years old and be able to attend mandatory trainings in June. Deadline to apply is February 8. Come to the Career Center for a job flyer.
The City of Davis is offering its annual So-Cal Safari College Tour for high school students from March 25-28 during spring break.  Colleges visited on the tour are UC Santa Barbara, UCLA, CSU Long Beach, UC Irvine and USC. Cost is $530, which includes transportation, college tours, breakfast, dinner and hotels. Come to the Career Center for more information.
SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS:  If you would you like to do research at UC Davis this summer, the UC Davis Young Scholars Program offers high achieving high school students the opportunity to participate in a six-week summer research program June 23 - August 3 in biology and natural sciences at UC Davis.  Students will stay in a UCD dorm and conduct research, participate in lab work, go on field trips and earn five units of university group credit. Applications are due March 16.  Come to the Career Center for information about the program, fees, and financial assistance.
