ACADEMICS/OPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:
NAEP Makeup Session will be held on Monday, 2/25 at 9:15 am @ the Veterans Memorial Center MPR to some our seniors that have been selected to participate in NAEP. Curious about the types of questions you can expect to see on NAEP? Check out the NAEP Test Yourself tool at http://bit.ly/2cm6NBa.
We are getting closer to graduation! Senior Speech applications are now available at the office.
CLUBS:
Hey, future Hubsters, the due date for Hub Support Staff applications had been extended. If you are interested in being a photographer, business manager, or website master please have your application turned in to the office or L-28 by Monday February 25th.
Come to the Culture Club! Where you can learn about different cultures and gain on different perspective of cultures around the globe. It will be happening in room P-23 at lunch every Tuesday. Hope to see you there!
CAREERS:
SENIORS: It's scholarship time! If you would like free money for college, then you should apply for scholarships! Nineteen local community scholarships are now being offered for seniors graduating from a Davis high school. You can find these local scholarships and many more in the Career Center's Scholarship Bulletin or on Naviance. Come to the Career Center to apply for scholarships!
Would you like to learn more about Cal Poly SLO? If so, come to the Career Center at lunch on Tuesday, February 26 at lunch to hear an admissions rep discuss the benefits of attending Cal Poly. Come to the Career Center for more information.
Are you interested in taking a gap year before starting college? The DHS PTA is sponsoring a Gap Year Fair on Saturday, February 23 at from 1:00 - 4:00 in the All Student Center and library. Students will hear speakers discuss a wide variety of gap year opportunities, and meet with representatives to learn about the many different gap year programs available. You could win a $500 scholarship by attending this event! Come to the Career Center for a flyer.
Juniors interested in learning what it's like to be an FBI agent can apply for the Spring Sacramento FBI Teen Academy held on Friday, April 12 at the FBI headquarters in Roseville. At the academy, students will learn about FBI careers, the types of cases the FBI investigates, hidden dangers of social media, and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle free of crime, drugs, gangs and violence. Deadline to apply is March 11. Come to the Career Center for an application.
If you are looking for a job this summer, Swim America is now hiring summer camp counselors at $12.00 per hour. Camp counselors will supervise and help children with various camp activities for four weeks in the summer. Come to the Career Center for more information.
