Attention all Spring Sport Athletes who are enrolled in Independent Lifetime Sports: There will be a mandatory informational meeting on Thursday, February 21st, in the small gym, at the very beginning of 7th period block. Please arrive on time; the meeting will be fairly short. This meeting is for students who have officially been selected for their Spring sport official team roster. You must attend this meeting for information and verification of your enrollment on the team, and in the course. Email Ms. Crawford with any questions.
ACADEMICS/OPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:
AP Sales: AP exams are available for purchase for $99 per test. Online sales are until 3/1 at www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/050730<http://www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/050730> in person sales are from 2/19 to 3/1 during lunch at the Finance Office. The deadline to submit documentation for AP accommodations is February 22nd. Please see your counselor if you need financial assistance or accommodations.
DHS Choral Auditions - Sign up to Audition for Jazz Choir, Madrigals & Advance Treble Choir: Do you want to join one of DHS' auditioned choirs next year? Jazz Choir, Madrigals and ATC will be holding their auditions on March 4-7. All applicants MUST register by February 22, 2019 to audition. Forms can be found at http://bit.ly/DHSChoirAuditions or at the DHS Office, and more information about each program can be found at http://jazzchoir.net/, https://www.davismadrigals.com<https://www.davismadrigals.com/> and http://davishighatc.wixsite.com/atc. Parents of auditioning students are strongly encouraged to attend the pre-audition Parent Meeting on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 4 pm in DHS room P-10 to hear about the audition process and the DHS auditioned choir experience.
Auditions for the 2019/20 DHS Symphonic and Jazz bands are available for everyone interested. Please contact Mr. Slabaugh in PA-3 to receive the audition requirements and sign up for an audition time. - Mr. Slabaugh
The Fenix Drum presentation at lunch has been postponed until Tuesday, February 26th . We apologized for the change of plans. However, we will look forward to the drumming in the near future.
We are getting closer to graduation! Senior Speech applications are now available at the office.
CLUBS:
FFA Week: Next week is FFA Week, come join us at lunch for a week full of fun! Thursday is class demonstrations, and Friday is the truck and tractor show. All the fun is in the quad! Interested in Business? Come to N-02 during lunch on February 21st to learn about the Speech & Debate Business initiative, a program designed to give you real world business experience and mentorship from local entrepreneurs. Additional information can be found in N-02.
Are you interested in starting a Latinos Unidos Club information session on Thursday, February 21st during lunch in the Student Success Center in the office.
Interested in donating blood at the Blood Drive on March 11th? Come to the Red Cross Club meeting tomorrow during lunch in S-1!
Do you want to start your own business and learn about the Speech & Debate business initiative? Come to the Business Club in N-02 at lunch this Thursday.
All GSA Club members you are cordially invited to the School Climate Committee meeting this Thursday at lunch in the Library West Conference room. The School Climate Committee is a forum to discuss and help improve social justice at DHS.
CAREERS:
SENIORS: It's scholarship time! If you would like free money for college, then you should apply for scholarships! Nineteen local community scholarships are now being offered for seniors graduating from a Davis high school. You can find these local scholarships and many more in the Career Center's Scholarship Bulletin or on Naviance. Come to the Career Center to apply for scholarships!
If you are interested in learning about the United States Military Academy at West Point, the West Point admissions department will hold an informational session in Sacramento on Tuesday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. At American River College. At the event, you will hear representatives will explain the West Point admissions process in detail. Come to the Career Center for more information.
Would you like to learn more about Cal Poly SLO? If so, come to the Career Center at lunch on Tuesday, February 26 at lunch to hear an admissions rep discuss the benefits of attending Cal Poly. Come to the Career Center for more information.
Are you interested in taking a gap year before starting college? The DHS PTA is sponsoring a Gap Year Fair on Saturday, February 23 at from 1:00 - 4:00 in the All Student Center and library. Students will hear speakers discuss a wide variety of gap year opportunities, and meet with representatives to learn about the many different gap year programs available. You could win a $500 scholarship by attending this event! Come to the Career Center for a flyer.
