ACADEMICS/OPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:
Wednesday, April 24, 2019 is the deadline for submitting information and articles for the May/June (and final) edition of the DHS PTA newsletter for this school year. Please send news, announcements, etc. To the DHS PTA Media Listserve at DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org<mailto:DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org>. Be sure to include your name, email address, phone number in case the newsletter editor has questions about your submission, and also note that not every submission will be automatically included. Inclusion is at the discretion of our communications committee and is subject to timing, the appropriate venue(s), and frequency of the request(s). The newsletter is the ONLY communication tool that reaches ALL DHS families, whether they have internet access or not. The newsletter is generally published around the first of each month. This is a great way to inform, notify or enlist parents' help for upcoming DHS school and student activities.
Attention seniors! Senior Ball is May 11th at The Hyatt in downtown Sacramento 1209 L St, Sacramento, CA. Last ticket sale date is this Friday at lunch in the Finance office. All seniors wishing to purchase tickets all forms can be found in the front office. To ensure your group sits together, please have a representative of your group deliver all completed forms at the time of purchase.
CLUBS:
Attention Gamers! If you are Totally Epic then you have to come to Game Night on Wednesday, April 24th from 6:30 to 8:30 in the ASC. There will be a super smash Brothers Tournament.
Are you interested in learning about the effects of oil on wildlife? Scott Buhl, a Responder specialists at the UCD oiled Wildlife Network will be giving a presentation at lunch in room S-10 on Thursday. Hope to see you there!
Hey Women in STEM. Join us this Friday, April 26th, to get volunteer hours for helping us prepare for the Girls Mathalon.
Did you know that if a bystander uses CPR on someone who is having a cardiac arrest they are 2 to 3 times more likely to survive? Join the Red Cross Club this Thursday at lunch in S-01 to practice and learn more about CPR for volunteer hours. See you there!
CAREERS:
A new scholarship is available for DHS students! The Davis High School Ag Booster Scholarship is for seniors planning to pursue a career in agriculture or a related field. Come to the Career Center for an application. The deadline to apply is April 30.
Do you need a summer job? The school district is now hiring summer custodians. The position is 40 hours per week June 17 through August 23 and pays $13.67 per hour. You can apply at the District Office, 526 B Street, or come to the Career Center for more information.
College Night for Juniors and their parents is Thursday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m. starting in the All Student Center. At College Night, juniors will learn about two- and four-year public and private colleges and universities, transfer opportunities, testing requirements, financial aid and much more during breakout sessions. Join us on April 25 to find out more about the process of applying to college!
