ACADEMICS/OPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:
Attention all DHS instrumental soloists this is a note to prepare you for this year's DHS Concerto Competition:
The annual DHS Orchestra Concerto Competition will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 7:00pm on stage in the DHS Brunelle Performance Hall. It is open to all DHS instrumentalist and free to the public to view. The winner of this competition will be given the honor of performing with the DHS Symphony Orchestra as well as a check for $500.00. A sign-up sheet and informational flyer are now on the window of the computer lab in PA-3. It is important to start to plan for this event now and begin preparing your solos ASAP. SENIORS! Do you know about the tradition of Davis Grad Night?  Davis Grad Night is a fun, safe and sober all-night celebration for graduating seniors from the four high schools within the District (Davis Senior High School, DaVinci High School, Martin Luther King High School and DSIS). The party is held at Emerson Junior High School, with the entire campus transformed into a nightclub filled with activities, hundreds of raffle prizes and an all-night cafe. The decorations theme changes every year and is top secret until it is revealed at Grad Night. About 90% of the graduating class attends the event. "Winter Ball 2018 is Saturday December 1st. Tickets go on sale November 13th-16th and the 26th-30th during lunch at the finance office window. Prices are $10 with ASB and $15 without. Guest passes need to be turned in before purchase. No sales at the door. Tickets are limited!"
Blue Devil Book Drive! Bring a book to English class and make a difference for families in need.  The Blue Devil Book Drive will donate all books to the STEAC (Short Term Emergency Aid Committee) Holiday Program. English Teachers will collect books from Nov 13 - Dec 6.  We will accept gently-used books for children of all ages: from babies to teenagers. Books for older readers and books in Spanish are especially needed.   Bring one, bring a bunch!  All donations will be greatly appreciated. Contact your English teacher or Mrs. Pilon in Room P-20 for more information.

Your Chance to Help! Link Crew is conducting a drive for Paradise High School community that was destroyed by the Butte County fire. We are collecting school supplies such as backpacks, binders, notebooks, pencils and basics such as clothes, socks, toiletries, etc... This is a call for quick action so we can deliver to the needy during Thanksgiving break. Bring items to Room L-20 and if you have questions please see Mr. Bill Williams.

CLUBS:
Don't miss out on a great opportunity to learn about the effect of food waste on humans and the climate and about how you can help reduce waste! Come hear Dr. Underwood talk about these issues at Environmental Club in room S-10 during lunch this Thursday, November 15th.

North Davis Elementary School still needs male cabin leaders for their Walker Creek trip January 7-11.  If you are a guy who is interested in being a Cabin Leader with North Davis, please come to the Career Center this week to pick up an application.
