This Wednesday at lunch, UC Davis Political Science professor Dr. Brad Jones will be speaking about immigration issues. His presentation will begin at 12:15pm in the IPAD. Attention all DHS instrumental soloists this is a note to prepare you for this year's DHS Concerto Competition:
The annual DHS Orchestra Concerto Competition will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 7:00pm on stage in the DHS Brunelle Performance Hall. It is open to all DHS instrumentalist and free to the public to view. The winner of this competition will be given the honor of performing with the DHS Symphony Orchestra as well as a check for $500.00.A sign-up sheet and informational flyer are now on the window of the computer lab in PA-3. It is important to start to plan for this event now and begin preparing your solos ASAP. Pick up a Trivia Bowl Application in ASC 100. Trivia Bowl is a jeopardy- style trivia competition about science, math, history, literature and popular culture. Prizes for the winning team. Applications are due November 9th.
The annual Food Drive will take place from November 5th through 16th, donate cans to your 4th period class. All proceeds will go to STEAC and winners will receive a pizza party!
Interested in showcasing your talent? Pick up a DHS Factor application at the ASC-100 or front office! All applications are due November 9th!
Interested in learning about business? Come to the Business Club meeting this Thursday at lunch in N-2. Guest speaker time as executive director of the Asian Development Bank in Manila, and her position as California's savings and Loan Commissioner.
Want to learn origami? Come to Japanese Culture Club in S-9 on Thursday at lunch for a lesson on traditional Japenese paper folding. Don't miss out!
Interested in biochemistry? Come to S-5 on Friday at lunch to join Women in Stem in welcoming a Novozymes Scientist to our campus. Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn more about molecule creation.

CAREERS:
SENIORS: Need free money for college? Then you should come to the DHS FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP on Thursday November 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the All Student Center. At the workshop you'll learn about the many types of student financial aid and how to complete financial aid applications. All seniors and their parents are invited to attend. Come to the Career Center for more information.
The next Financial Literacy class is Friday, November 9 at lunch in the Career Center. Pizza will be provided. A representative from Yolo Federal Credit Union, in partnership with the PTA, will discuss budgeting, financial goal-setting, how to create a resume and tips for finding a job. Come to the Career Center this week to sign up!
North Davis Elementary School still needs male cabin leaders for their Walker Creek trip January 7-11. If you are a guy who is interested in being a Cabin Leader with North Davis, please come to the Career Center this week to pick up an application.
