EVENTS FOR TODAY:
Melba Beals, will be speaking in Brunelle Theater today at 4pm.  Dr. Beals was one of the Little Rock 9 - 9 African American high school students who integrated Central High School during the 1957-58 school year.  Dr. Beals will be speaking about her experiences but also providing perspective on how we all deal with difficulties.  If you want to attend, please stop by P-14 to get a ticket to the event.  YOU MUST HAVE A TICKET TO ATTEND.  RSJ, Student Government and DJUSD sponsor this event.


A representative from Sacramento City College will be in the Career Center today at lunch to show students how to apply to Sac City, and discuss the many Career Education programs offered at the college.  Pizza will be provided! Come to the Career Center for more information and to sign up.

ACADEMICS/OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:

Seniors: Are you interested in giving a speech at the 2018 Graduation Ceremony?  Graduation speech applications are now available!  Please see Marlen Cabrera in the front office.  All applications are due by Friday, April 6, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. No late speeches will be accepted.

"DSHS Dance Team" will be holding tryouts for the 2018-2019 school year April 9th - April 12th.
Mandatory Clinic, Monday, April 9th - 11th, from 4-6pm @ DSHS Dance Room. Tryouts, Thursday, April 12th @ 4 pm
 Parent/Student Information Packet There will be a mandatory parent/guardian and student meeting on Wednesday, April 4th from 5:30pm-6:00pm in the DSHS Dance room. It is required that all dancers have been cleared by Athletics prior to participating in tryouts. CLUBS:
Come to DSH Speech + Debate's Annual Showcase on March 21st for an evening of humor, tragedy and surprise at Brunelle Hall. Doors open at 6pm.

Key Club will be having a fundraiser at Teabo Café on Wednesday March 21st from 6pm-12am. Bring a flyer and all your friends.

Hey, Hey, Hey, It's Showcase Day! Come watch your fellow classmates battle it out at me Podium + Experience a juicy selection of State Qualifying Speeches brought to you by your very own Speech + Debate Team. This Wednesday, 6pm, Brunelle Hall. Admission is 5 dollars.

CAREERS:
Would you like to help test an app designed to reduce distracted driving?  If you have a driver's license and drive independently on a regular basis, Adept Driver would like you and your parent or guardian to participate in this test.  The app is designed to send parents a text message when their teen drives.  Students in the program will receive a $50 gift card of their choice.   Come to the Career Center for more information.
Local scholarships for Davis high school students are available now!  Come to the Career Center this week to pick up local scholarship applications so you can work on them over spring break.   Spring break is a great time to fill out scholarship applications and have them ready to turn in by the April 6 deadline!
Would you like to volunteer this summer where you can make a positive impact on animal welfare, the environment, and children? If so, you should be a Camp Counselor at the Sacramento Zoo! Volunteers help prepare and teach classes for campers, lead songs and games, guide campers through Zoo scavenger hunts, assist in Family Overnight Safaris, and much more. The deadline to apply is April 19th.  Come to the Career Center for more information.
