ACADEMICS/OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:

Seniors: Are you interested in giving a speech at the 2018 Graduation Ceremony?  Graduation speech applications are now available!  Please see Marlen Cabrera in the front office.  All applications are due by Friday, April 6, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. No late speeches will be accepted.


"Applications are now available from ATC students or in PA8 for the ATC 'So You Think You Can Dance' Competition scheduled for Saturday, April 7th at 7:00 pm in the IPAB.  Come dance the night away and win $150.  The deadline for applications is March 14th.

Apply for the State Seal of Biliteracy
Graduating seniors, who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in a language other than English, may be eligible to receive the State Seal of Biliteracy upon graduation! More information on the eligibility and to access the application at English Learners website<http://www.djusd.net/el>. Monday, March 19th, at 4 p.m. Melba Beals, will be speaking in Brunelle Theater.  Dr. Beals was one of the Little Rock 9 - 9 African American high school students who integrated Central High School during the 1957-58 school year.  Dr. Beals will be speaking about her experiences but also providing perspective on how we all deal with difficulties.  If you want to attend, please stop by P-14 to get a ticket to the event.  YOU MUST HAVE A TICKET TO ATTEND.  This event is sponsored by RSJ, Student Government and DJUSD.


"DSHS Dance Team" will be holding tryouts for the 2018-2019 school year April 9th - April 12th.
Mandatory Clinic, Monday, April 9th - 11th, from 4-6pm @ DSHS Dance Room. Tryouts, Thursday, April 12th @ 4 pm
 Parent/Student Information Packet There will be a mandatory parent/guardian and student meeting on Wednesday, April 4th from 5:30pm-6:00pm in the DSHS Dance room. It is required that all dancers have been cleared by Athletics prior to participating in tryouts. DHS PTA Newsletter Submissions
Monday, March 19th, is the deadline for submitting information and articles for the April issue of the DHS PTA newsletter. Please send news, announcements, etc. to the DHS PTA Media Listserve at DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org<mailto:DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org>. Be sure to include your name, email address and phone number in case the newsletter editor has questions about your submission and also note that not every submission will be automatically included. Inclusion is at the discretion of our communications committee and is subject to timing, the appropriate venue(s), and frequency of the request(s).The newsletter is the ONLY communication tool that reaches ALL DHS families, whether they have internet access or not. The newsletter is generally published around the first of each month.  This is a great way to inform, notify or enlist parents' help for upcoming DHS school and student activities.

CLUBS:
Please support Academic Decathlon by donating items such as lightly used clothes, books, games, etc. small items can be brought to Mr. Barclay's room T-3. Other large items can be brought the day of the garage sale, Saturday March 17th from 8am-1:00pm at the DJUSD parking lot 526 B Street. Any large unclaimed items need to be picked up or otherwise be donated to charity. Note: Please no large like beds or couches.

Guys, gals, and nonbinary pals! Come to the GSA meeting this Friday at lunch in Mr. Moore's room P-21 on the second floor near the elevator. We will be continuing our discussion on intersectionality and why it's important.

Come to DSH Speech + Debate's Annual Showcase on March 21st for an evening of humor, tragedy and surprise at Brunelle Hall. Doors open at 6pm.

Making plans for Saturday? Come to the World Language Fair here at DHS! It is free and will be held in the ASC from 11am- 2pm. Free international performances and tasty international foods for a low price.

CAREERS:
Sacramento City College has reserved special Assessment Exam dates for high school students who want to take the exam at the Davis Center campus.  Students must take the Assessment Exam before enrolling at Sacramento City College and to be eligible for priority registration.  Come to the Career Center for the list of special exam dates and to make an appointment.
