Come to the Fair to get expert advice on exploring your future career path, meet with local businesses about job opportunities, get resources to prepare you for your next job, learn interview skills, find out how to create a resume, and much more!  There will be free swag and raffle prizes!  Come to the Career Center to find out how to sign up for this fun and informative event!

ACDEMICS/OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:
Attention all DHS instrumental soloists this is a note to prepare you for this year's DHS Concerto Competition: The annual DHS Orchestra Concerto Competition will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 7:00pm on stage in the DHS Brunelle Performance Hall. It is open to all DHS Instrumentalists and free to the public to view. The winner of this competition will be given the honor of performing with the DHS Symphony Orchestra at the Mondavi Center in Jackson Hall at the Wennberg Music Festival on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 2:30pm as well as a check for $500.00. A sign-up sheet and informational flyer are now on the window of the computer lab in PA-3. It is important to start to plan for this event now and begin preparing your solos ASAP. Enjoy a great dinner and jazz at the 30th annual DHS Jazz Choir Cabaret - the choir's most elaborate production and largest celebration of the year. Dinner shows will be held Saturday, Feb. 10 and Sunday, Feb 11 at Emerson Junior High. A final show-only performance will be held on Saturday, Feb 17 at Brunelle. PSAT Scores: Online scores are now available at https://studentscores.collegeboard.org/ , from 12/14 to 1/31/18. Paper scores reports will be available late January.
Attention Graduating Senior and Senior Parents!  Have you purchase your grad night tickets yet? You are running out of time for the discounted price. Join our next DHS Health and Wellness event next Tuesday January 23rd on Academic Stress- during 7th period in the library. All students who want to attend should sign up on the Counseling Web Page (right side). Students who have a 7th period class will be excused if the signup and attend this Health and Wellness event...Academic Stress---come and learn strategies to manage the pressures!

DHS PTA Newsletter Submissions: Monday, January 22nd, is the deadline for submitting information and articles for the February Davis High School PTA newsletter. Please send news, announcements, etc. to the DHS PTA Media Listserve at DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org<mailto:DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org>.Be sure to include your name, email address and phone number in case the newsletter editor has questions about your submission and also note that not every submission will be automatically included. Inclusion is at the discretion of our communications committee and is subject to timing, the appropriate venue(s), and frequency of the request(s).The newsletter is the ONLY communication tool that reaches ALL DHS families, whether they have internet access or not. The newsletter is generally published around the first of each month.  This is a great way to inform, notify or enlist parents' help for upcoming DHS school and student activities.

CLUBS:
Hey Davis High! Are you looking to make a difference at our school? Want to lead preparations for Winter Ball or Prom? Be the liaison to the School Board? Then apply for the ASB office! Applications are in ASC Student Government room and are due by Jan 23 to the office.

CAREER:
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a free career exploration test administered by the military that may help you identify potential careers based on your strengths and interests.   The ASVAB is will be administered on Thursday, January 18 at 2:30 p.m. in the library computer lab.  Come to the Career Center to sign up.
Join a group of DHS students as we answer questions about college and learn "HOW TO PLAY THE COLLEGE GAME" provided in a partnership between Sacramento City College and Davis Senior High School at The Career Center January 24th @ 2:40pm.  Topic of The Month is: Stress Management.

Juniors interested in learning what it's like to be an FBI agent can now apply for the FBI Teen Academy held on Friday, March 23at the FBI headquarters in Roseville.  At the academy, students will learn about FBI careers, the types of cases the FBI investigates, hidden dangers of social media, and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle free of crime, drugs, gangs and violence.  Deadline to apply is February 22.  Come to the Career Center for more information.
