THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1848 - The Mexican War was ended with the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The treaty turned over portions of land to the U.S., including Texas, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, California and parts of Colorado and Wyoming<http://www.on-this-day.com/us>. The U.S.<http://www.on-this-day.com/us> gave Mexico $15,000,000 and assumed responsibility of all claims against Mexico by American citizens. Texas<http://www.on-this-day.com/us/tx> had already entered the U.S.<http://www.on-this-day.com/us> on December 29, 1845.

First day of practice will be Tuesday, February 20 at UCD School Aquatic Center from 4-6pm. Practice will continue every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 4-6pm.
ACADEMICS/OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:

CAREERS:
If you are interested in becoming a doctor, you should attend Phi Delta Epsilon's Pre-Medical Youth Conference on Saturday, April 14 on the UC Davis campus. You will hear from physicians on what it takes to get into medical school, how to be a successful pre-med student, learn how to take blood pressure, witness and perform a suture procedure and more. Admission and lunch are free! Come to the Career Center for more information.

JOB OPPORTUNITY: Ink Monkey Graphics is hiring part time positions for 2-3 hours per day, 4-5 days a weeks to help with. Pay is minimum wage and no experience is necessary. Duties include production assistance, screen washing, and general cleanup. Come to the Career Center for information on how to apply.
Students interested in pursuing a career as a veterinarian are invited to attend the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine's "Future Day" on Saturday, April 28 from 8:00 - 3:00. Future Day will focus on careers in veterinary medicine, offer hands-on activities and interactive labs, and will show students what being a veterinarian is all about. The event is free and includes a light breakfast and lunch. Come to the Career Center to sign up.
