Davis Senior High School Daily Bulletin

THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1903 - The Williamsburg Bridge opened in New York City. It opened as the largest suspension bridge on Earth and remained the largest until 1924. It was also the first major suspension bridge to use steel towers to support the main cable.

Breakfast Served Daily:  Cereal w/Graham Cracker, Breakfast Pizza, Assorted Breakfast Sandwiches, Scones, Breakfast Burrito, Chicken & Cheese Quesadilla, Pancakes w/ Sausage, Assorted Muffins, Chicken & Biscuit Slider, Yogurt Parfait w/Graham Cracker.

PLEASE NOTE!   Effective Wednesday 12/19/18 and continuing through Friday, 12/21/18, the Administrative Office Building will close at 1pm. Regular hours will resume after winter break.

ACADEMICS/OPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:
SENIORS! Do you know about the tradition of Davis Grad Night? Davis Grad Night is a fun, safe and sober all-night celebration for graduating seniors from the four high schools within the District (Davis Senior High School, DaVinci High School, Martin Luther King High School and DSIS). The party is held at Emerson Junior High School, with the entire campus transformed into a nightclub filled with activities, hundreds of raffle prizes and an all-night cafe. The decorations theme changes every year and is top secret until it is revealed at Grad Night. About 90% of the graduating class attends the event. CLUBS:

For the second year, Da Vinci Charter Academy is hosting an event celebrating women in STEM fields here at our campus on the evening of January, 29 at 6:15 pm in the MPR. This event is sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and Explorit Science Center. The event is aimed at upper-elementary and middle school students but some high school students may find relevance as well. A flyer with registration details and the list of STEM speakers will follow in mid-January. Calling all singers! Apply now for the DHS Idol and compete to win $150! Applications are available in PA-8 and are due by December 21st. Get your application in soon, spots fill up quickly!

Applications are now available for next year's ASB officer elections. Pick up an application in the ASC-100 (the Student Government room). Applications are due January 16th. Elections and Speeches will take place on February 1, 2019.

Hey DHS! Stop by the Teabo this Friday between 6pm-12am to support UNICEF Club. Make sure to bring a flyer!

This January, don't miss Acme Theatre Company's two winter plays - The Triangle Factory Fire project which tells the story of a deadly factory fire in 1911 NYC and the immigrant women who fought for workers' rights, and A Radio Murder Mystery, with fast talking gangsters, dramatically-lit detectives, and live sound effects performed by a team of intrepid technicians. CAREERS:
If you would like to learn about the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) Scholarship, come to the Career Center for a flyer on how to apply.  The NROTC Scholarship provides full tuition and fees for college. The deadline to apply is December 31.
