THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 2001 - It was announced that scientists had unearthed the remains of an ancient crocodile which lived 110 million years ago. The animal, found in Gadoufaoua, Niger, grew as long as 40 feet and weighed as much as eight metric tons.

TODAY:
Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment and noticing the thoughts and sensations that arise. Who should practice mindfulness? Everyone who would like to feel calmer, more connected, and generally happier. Mindfulness training will be held in room O-5 2:45 to 3:15. For more information contact Ms. Tabor in O-5.
LINK Crew will be holding its general meeting today during lunch in L-20. We will be discussing upcoming events. See you there!

DHS ski and snowboard swap Sunday Nov. 12 - 9am-2pm in the DHS South Gym off Oak St. New and used ski and snowboard equipment and clothing. Attention Senior Parents! Can you believe it is already time to start thinking about Grad Night? Grad Night tickets are now on sale. Every graduating senior in Davis (DaVinci, DSIS, King and DHS) is welcome to celebrate at this All-night, alcohol and drug free party on Friday, June 8th from 9:30 pm- 5:00am. Visit davisgradnight.org<http://davisgradnight.org> to purchase tickets. Tickets are $75.00 until February 1st. So get your tickets before prices go up. Ticket includes all activities, food, and raffle entry.
Friday, October 27th, is the deadline for summiting information and articles for the November Davis High School PTA newsletter. Please send news, announcements, etc. to the DHS PTA Media Listserve at DHSPTA at mailman.dcn.org<mailto:DHSPTA at mailman.dcn.org>. Be sure to include your name, email address and phone number in case the newsletter editor has questions about your submission and also note that not every submission will be automatically included. Inclusion is at the discretion of our communications committee and is subject to timing, the appropriate venue(s), and frequency of the request(s). The newsletter is the ONLY communication tool that reaches ALL DHS families, whether they have internet access or not. The newsletter is generally published around the first of each month. This is a great way to inform, notify or enlist parents' help for upcoming DHS school and student activities.
Save the DATE: DHS Upcoming Climate Meeting is Tuesday, Nov. 7th at Lunch. More information to come next week.
We would like to invite you to our first meeting of the English Learners Advisory Committee, or ELAC. ELAC is a team that is here to support the families of Davis High School Students who have been identified as English Learners. Our meeting will be this Thursday Oct 26th, at 5:30 p.m. in the Davis High School Library. Please don't miss it! We will talk about very important topics like; the EL Program and how it focusses on supporting our English Learners, resources available for English Learners and School Field Trips. Food will be provided and children are welcome. If you have any questions, you can call the school at 530 757 5400, ext. 162 and talk to Kellie Sequeira the EL Specialist. We hope to see you there!

DHS's Blue Poster Walls were established to provide a space for groups to reach DHS students when special events occurs by posting their flyers. This is a reminder to treat withy care the papers taped to the wall. Please make sure that posters with upcoming events are well taped to ensure that they remain in place. We appreciate your respect of this important communication wall.

Do you feel like you don't have a voice at school? Join the DHS Social Club. Where you can make surveys and analyze what Blue Devils think about different topics! Come to L-28 for our first general meeting this Friday.
Guys, gals, and non-binary pals! The GSA will have a guest speaker this Friday. Come to talk to us about LGBTQ + History Month, in Mr. Moore's room, P-21, on the 2nd floor near the elevator. We will see you there!
Are you brave enough to face your fears? Find out at Disturbia Haunted House on Saturday, October 28, at 620 Estrella Place, from 7pm-12am. Tickets are $5 dollars at the door. All the funds collected will go to support the Jazz Choir Program.
