Girl up will be hosting its next club meeting! We will be talking about the December Girl Up challenge! Hope to see you there!

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment and noticing the thoughts and sensations that arise. Who should practice mindfulness? Everyone who would like to feel calmer, more connected, and generally happier. Mindfulness training will be held in room O-5 from 2:45 to 3:15pm. For more information, contact Ms. Tabor in O-5.


The Davis High School FFA Boosters will be hosting a fundraiser at the Davis Blaze Pizza location at 212 F Street from 5-8pm. You MUST have the flyer in order for us to receive credit. Please visit davisffaagboosters.weebly.com to print the flyer.
Come join the Women's Soccer Program at their Blaze Fundraiser. The fundraiser goes from 5:30-9pm today. Make sure to show your flyer and enjoy your pizza!

Calling all Football Players: There will be an off-season strength and conditioning meeting in the Davis High Weight Room on Thursday Dec. 14th at 4pm. All students interested in playing football in the 2018 season should attend.
Have you checked out the new Golden 1 Arena in Sacramento? Now is your chance! Come cheer on the Davis High Varsity Girls & Boys teams as they take on rivals St. Francis & Jesuit on Friday, January 5. Girls play at 6pm and boys play at 7:30pm. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased from a varsity team member or via the DHS Finance Office and webstore. This is a fundraiser for the DHS basketball programs. See you at the game!

Attention boys in grades 9-12 interested in DHS Boys Volleyball this spring:  there will be some pre-season Open Gym opportunities coming up.  The first open gym will be Dec. 21 & 22 4-6pm. ACADEMICS/OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:
Attention Senior Parents! Can you believe it is already time to start thinking about Grad Night? Grad Night tickets are now on sale. Every graduating senior in Davis (DaVinci, DSIS, King and DHS) is welcome to celebrate at this All-night, alcohol and drug free party on Friday, June 8th from 9:30 pm- 5:00am. Visit davisgradnight.org<http://davisgradnight.org>  to purchase tickets. Tickets are $75.00 until February 1st. So get your tickets before prices go up. Ticket includes all activities, food, and raffle entry.

Wellness doesn't just mean not being sick. Come by the DHS Library Thursday December 14th during 6th period to explore the concept of wellness with Abby, the school nurse. We'll discuss topics like nutrition exercise and play some games. Make sure to sign - up on the DHS Counseling page, stay Healthy DHS students!
Davis Parent University - Dan Siegel (The Yes Brain) event Jan 10, 2018
DPU's January 10, 2018 event with Dan Siegel, MD, New York Times bestselling author of The Yes Brain, at DHS' Brunelle Hall, is currently sold out.  Ticket holders should arrive no later than 6:45pm, to guarantee their seat. Walk-ins are welcome and will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 6:50pm.  In past lectures, all walk-ins have been accommodated.  We hope to see you there!

Anyone interested in taking AP Art Studio next year should come to A-1 at lunch on Friday for an informational meeting.

Semester two Club Grants are now available! If you want money for your club, apply now. Pick up an application in room N-1A.
It's time to sign up to complete in the 13th annual DHS Idol! Pick up your application in the choir room, PA-08. Both individuals and group acts can apply! All applications are due by January 4. Good luck!

Guys, gals, and non-binary pals! Come and finish your trans awareness week posters in Mr. Moore's room, P-21, on the 2nd floor near the elevator during lunch on Friday @ the GSA.

CAREER:
ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS:  The Davis Chamber of Commerce will host a Job Readiness Fair on Wednesday, January 17 from 3:00 - 5:00 in the Brunelle Theater.  Come to the Fair to get expert advice on exploring your future career path, meet with local businesses about job opportunities, get resources to prepare you for your next job, learn interview skills, find out how to create a resume, and much more!  There will be free swag and raffle prizes!  Come to the Career Center to find out how to sign up for this fun and informative event!
SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS:  If you would you like to do research at UC Davis this summer, the UC Davis Young Scholars Program offers high achieving high school students the opportunity to participate in a six-week summer research program June 24 - August 4 in the biological and natural sciences.  Students will stay in a UCD dorm and conduct research, participate in lab work, go on field trips and earn five units of university credit.  Applications are due March 16.  Come to the Career Center for information about the program, fees, and financial assistance.
