THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 2001 - It was announced that scientists had unearthed the remains of an ancient crocodile which lived 110 million years ago. The animal, found in Gadoufaoua, Niger, grew as long as 40 feet and weighed as much as eight metric tons.

Athletics - There will be a Winter Athlete/Parent meeting on November 14th at 6:30pm in the North Gym.  All students that participate on a winter sports team must attend with at least one parent.

Winter sports tryouts begin November 7th. If you plan to tryout, please make sure to bring your completed sports physical packet to the Athletics Office to get your clearance card. If you are currently participating in a Fall sport, stop by to get a copy of your clearance card to take to your Winter tryout.

TODAY:  Do you want to test your knowledge on Hepatitis B trivia or want to know more about this deadly virus?  Then come participate in Team HBV's Hepatitis B Jeopardy game on October 25th in S-5.  We will have prizes for the winners!  We hope to see you there!

Interested in learning about and sharing art in the form of photos, filmmaking and digital graphic arts?  Come to the photography room at A-7 to join the Digital Media Arts Club at our first meeting on Tuesday, October 25th.   No experience is necessary and every month, you will have the opportunity to enter into contests to win food or cash prizes!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:  SENIORS:  If you are applying to private colleges, your letter of recommendation packet needs to be given to your counselor and teachers no later than October 31.

Are you looking for a quiet place to study or need a computer?  Come to the Internet After Hours Program at the DHS Library.  We are open every Monday through Thursday from 5:00 - 7:15 pm.  All DJUSD students and their families are welcome.

Come see the Fall musical 'First Date,' a fun-filled show with an amazing cast!  Performances start November 4 in the Brunelle Theater, pre-sale tickets coming soon!

On Thursday, October 27 the DHS Baroque Ensemble will be holding a barbecue fundraiser to benefit their upcoming summer trip to Austria and Italy. Come to the corner of the DHS parking lot by the Brunelle Performing Arts Building between 5:30-7:00pm and enjoy a delicious $15/plate tri-tip or chicken dinner that will be barbecued right here on the DHS campus! The Baroque students will even provide music to dine by. For more information or to hear about a pre-purchase drive-through dinner option, contact a Baroque Ensemble student or Kristi Gladding at klglad at pacbell.net<mailto:klglad at pacbell.net>.

Students, bus passes are sold in the Finance Office at lunchtime only.  $6 will buy a 10 ride pass, $25 will buy a month's pass.  Cash only, please!

OPPORTUNITIES:  Cabin Leaders are needed for the Walker Creek trip from November 28 - December 2 for Korematsu Elementary.  Come to the Career Center for an application.

CABIN LEADERS are needed for North Davis Elementary School's trip to Walker Creek January 9-13. Applications are available in the Career Center.  The deadline to apply is November 2.

If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a dodgeball!  The Annual Dodgeball Tournament is coming up!  Come get permission slips in N-1A (due 10/28).  Have teams of 6-9; you can win awesome shirts and a trophy with your name engraved.

Can you pogo stick? Can you do aerobic hacky sack while singing?  Got hecka guitar skills?  Do you have the voice of an angel?  Then you should sign up for DHS Factor.  DHS Factor is a talent and variety show and will be on November 18th.  Applications are due in N1-A by November 2.

CLUBS:  This year's Club Fair is Tuesday, November 8.  If you are a member of a club and would like your club to participate, pick up an application in N1-A.  Applications are due Tuesday, November 1.

Want to help the library give access to homebound residents and earn volunteer hours?  Come to the Book Access Club on Wednesdays at lunch in L-28.

Are you interested in telescopes and astronomy?  If so, come to S-2 on Wednesday, October 26th at lunch for Astronomy Club.  We will be making telescopes!  Hope to see you there!
