DHS Boys' Lacrosse meeting on Wednesday, November 16th at 7:00 pm in the DHS library. There will be an informational meeting for parents and players interested in participating in the 2017 Davis High Boys' Golf team on Wednesday, 11/16, at 7:00, in room N-5 at the high school.
Attention all WINTER SPORT Athletes: If you are enrolled in Independent Lifetime Sports for your Winter Sport season, and you are officially a part of your Winter Team Sport Roster, you must attend the Mandatory Informational meeting on Thursday, 11/17, during 7th period, in the small gym. The meeting is required for the course. Please arrive on time, and plan to stay for the duration of 7th period. **This meeting is mandatory** and you will not be officially enrolled unless you attend this meeting.
TODAY: The DMAC is having their first photo contest. The theme is fall. Come to our meeting on Tuesday, 11/15 at lunchtime in A-7 to vote on your favorite photo. Winner gets $20 and we will have food!
SENIORS: Hey Seniors! It is time to submit your senior quotes and vote for senior mocks! When you are ready to submit, check the news section of School Loop or your loop mail/inbox for information on how to submit. Quotes and Votes are due no later than December 23rd.
JOB OPPORTUNITY: The City of Davis is hiring JUNIOR BASKETBALL COACHES and OFFICIALS. Pay ranges from $10.50 - $12.28 per hour. Students will work between 3-10 hours per week. Coaches and officials will teach basic basketball fundamentals and skills for 3rd through 6th grade boys and Girls basketball teams. Come to the Career Center for more information.
ACADEMICS: If you're not sure which career you want after high school, you can take the ASVAB free career exploration test to discover your strengths and interests for the type of career you might be best suited for. The ASVAB will be
administered on November 17 from 12:30-3:30 pm in the library computer lab. Come to the Career Center to sign up.
OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS/MISCELLANEOUS: 48th Annual Madrigal Choir Dinner Show! Enrich your holiday season with the tradition of "rustic elegance" and join us for the 2016 Madrigal Dinner Show and Silent Auction. Be part of the fun at our new venue at Waite Hall, Yolo County Fairgrounds, Woodland. With the new venue comes a whole new exciting show concept in Renaissance style. There are two events this year: Friday, Dec. 2 @ 6:30 Appetizers, 7:15 dinner is served. Saturday, Dec. 3 at 3:30 pm, appetizers and dinner served at 4:15 pm. Buy your tickets for Winter Ball online or at the Finance Office at lunch starting on Monday, November 14. Tickets will cost $15 on with ASB and $20 without. Buy them soon because they will increase in price and attendance is limited. You must have a dance contract on file!
Winter Ball is coming up on December 3. If you're looking for a dress or have dresses to donate, the dress swap is for you! Stop by P-12 on Thursdays after 5th period.

Sophomores and juniors are invited to apply for one of two Telluride Association's 2017 all-expense paid summer programs. Each program is a six-week seminar where students explore new academic interests, learn how to thrive in a college environment, improve their reading, writing, critical thinking, and public speaking skills, and more. Come to the Career Center for more information.
Friday, November 18, 2016 is the deadline for submitting information and articles for the December/January Davis High School PTA newsletter. Please send news, announcements, etc. to the DHS PTA Media Listserve at DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org<mailto:DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org>. Include your name, email address and phone number in case the newsletter editor has questions about your submission and also note that not every submission will be automatically included. Inclusion is at the discretion of our communications committee and is subject to timing, the appropriate venue(s), and frequency of the request(s). The newsletter is the ONLY communication tool that reaches ALL DHS families, whether they have internet access or not. The newsletter is generally published around the first of each month. This is a great way to inform, notify or enlist parents' help for upcoming DHS school and student activities.
The DHS Blackout shirts are still available to purchase. They are $5. Come by the Athletic Department to purchase your black-out shirt while supplies last!
CLUBS: Canned food drive is here! Bring cans to your 4th period class from now to November 18th. Classes with 15 cans or more on their collection days will receive a sweet surprise and the overall winning class gets a pizza party! And remember, yes we CAN!
Come to Mr. Lee's room L-14 for Asian Student Union at lunch this coming Friday! As always, we will have food and games, so bring your friends!
Astronomy Club will be meeting in S-2 on Wednesday, November 16th. We will be making dry ice comets! Hope to see you there!
BLUE DEVIL BOOK DRIVE! Bring a book to English class and make a difference for families in need. The Blue Devil Book Drive will donate all books to the STEAC (Short Term Emergency Aid Committee) Holiday Program. English teachers will collect books during the week before and the week after Thanksgiving Break. We will accept gently-used books for children of all ages; from babies to teenagers. Books for older readers and books in Spanish are especially needed
