THIS DAY IN HISTORY:  1984 - A bronze statue titled "Three Servicemen," by Frederick Hart, was unveiled at the site of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC.

Athletics - There will be a Winter Athlete/Parent meeting on November 14th at 6:30pm in the North Gym.  All students that participate on a winter sports team must attend with at least one parent.

All 9-12 graders interested in playing in the DHS boys JV or varsity tennis team this spring must attend a preseason meeting this Thursday at 4:00 pm.  The meeting will take p lace on the bleachers of court number 12 at the DHS tennis courts. Davis High Football Playoff Game Friday November 11 @ 7:00 pm here at Ron Brown Stadium.  All spectators must have purchased ticket.  ASB Cards will NOT get students in free for playoff games.  Prices: Adults $10, Seniors $7 and K-12 students $7. TODAY:  Attention DHS: Link Crew will be hosting games on the quad today, Wednesday at lunch.  Come join the fun!

Come to Art Club on Wednesday, 11/9 at lunch to O-4 (Mr. Curley's room).  This meeting, we plan to do origami.  Hope to see you there!

Mock Trial Club is meeting Wednesday at lunch in N-4.

JOB OPPORTUNITY:  The City of Davis is hiring JUNIOR BASKETBALL COACHES and OFFICIALS.   Pay ranges from $10.50 - $12.28 per hour. Students will work between 3-10 hours per week.  Coaches and officials will teach basic basketball fundamentals and skills for 3rd through 6th grade boys and Girls basketball teams.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

ACADEMICS: If you're not sure which career you want after high school, you can take the ASVAB free career exploration test to discover your strengths and interests for the type of career you might be best suited for.  The ASVAB will be
administered on November 17 from 12:30-3:30 pm in the library computer lab.  Come to the Career Center to sign up.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Winter Ball is coming up on December 3.  If you're looking for a dress or have dresses to donate, the dress swap is for you!  Stop by P-12 on Thursdays after 5th period.

Blue Devils! Be sure to come and see the fall drama 'First Date!' It's a lighthearted show with an awesome cast that could make anyone smile.  There will be performances on November 11 and 12 at 7:00 pm in the IPAB.   Tickets are on sale online, $16 for adults, $12 for seniors and $8 for students.  Come with your first date and get $1 off! See you there!

OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:  ACME Theater Company presents auditions for 'Pronoun' by Evan Placey.  The play follows the story of Dean, a transgender high-school student and the ways his transition affects his relationships.  Auditions will be held November 8-10 in Room S-1.  All 9-12th grad students are encouraged to try out!

Sophomores and juniors are invited to apply for one of two Telluride Association's 2017 all-expense paid summer programs.  Each program is a six-week seminar where students explore new academic interests, learn how to thrive in a college environment, improve their reading, writing, critical thinking, and public speaking skills, and more.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

The DHS Blackout shirts are still available to purchase.  They are $5.  Come by the Athletic Department to purchase your black-out shirt while supplies last!

Looking for great bargains on new and used ski and snowboard equipment and clothing? Come to the annual DHS Ski Swap on Sunday, Nov. 13.  The event is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the DHS South Gym. Admission is $3 for the first two hours, free after 11 a.m.   Team members will offer ski and board waxing services.  Have something to sell or donate? Bring it Saturday, Nov. 12, between 4 and 8 p.m., or before the swap on Sunday, Nov. 13, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.  Proceeds benefit the DHS Ski Team. CLUBS:  Canned food drive is here!  Bring cans to your 4th period class from November 7th to the 18th.  Classes with 15 cans or more on their collection days will receive a sweet surprise and the overall winning class gets a pizza party!  And remember, yes we CAN!

BLUE DEVIL BOOK DRIVE!  Bring a book to English class and make a difference for families in need.  The Blue Devil Book Drive will donate all books to the STEAC (Short Term Emergency Aid Committee) Holiday Program.  English teachers will collect books during the week before and the week after Thanksgiving Break.  We will accept gently-used books for children of all ages; from babies to teenagers.  Books for older readers and books in Spanish are especially needed

Attention all NHS members!  Next Monday, November 14th, we will have an NHS meeting in S-12 (Mr. Richardson's room) of the Semester.  We will talk about community service events and other general club information.  Hope to see you there!
