The deadline to apply for the American Legion's Boy State or Girl State Program has been extended to Friday, February 19th.  If you are a junior boy or junior girl interested in government, come to the Career Center this week to apply for the Boys State and Girls State all-expense paid summer program where you will learn all phases of creating a government.

Are you interested in learning more about a TEDX event right here at DHS?  Do you want to speak at or plan the event? Come to P-25 every Friday at lunchtime to learn more and help with the event!

Do you want to be an OG with V-squeezy?  Then come apply for Student Government.  Applications are available in Mr. Vasquez' room, N-1A and the Front Office and are due Friday, 2/19.  Apply if you want to help define your campus for years to come!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS: Attention all SPRING sport athletes enrolled in Independent Lifetime Sports:  There will be a MANDATORY information and sign-up meeting on Friday, February 26, during your free 7th period, in the small gym.  Please be on time, and plan to stay the entire 7th period.  At this meeting, you will receive all of the information you need in order to officially be enrolled in the course, AND, all of the information to complete the coursework.  This meeting IS NOT OPTIONAL.  You will NOT be officially enrolled in the ILS course without attending this informational meeting.  Contact Ms. Crawford with any questions.

Do you want to make a difference on our campus?  Then come to L-23 to pick up an application to be a part of next year's LEAD Class!  Applications are due March 4th.

If you are interested in learning about the United States Army or the United States Marines, come to the quad at lunch on Tuesday, February 23 to meet with Army and Marine representatives.

PSAT score reports are now available to pick up in the Career Center.

SENIORS: It's scholarship time! If you would like free money for college, then you should apply for scholarships!  Twenty-one local scholarships are now available for seniors graduating from a Davis high school.  You can find these local scholarships and many more at the Career Center's Scholarship Bulletin or Naviance.  Come to the Career Center to apply for scholarships!

ACADEMICS/CAREERS/OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:  Do you want to earn volunteer hours while helping fellow students with math and science questions?  Join MAST!  We are opening applications for new tutors who wish to join us this spring! Come to S-9 at lunch for more information.  Applications will be due on Friday, March 4th in S-9.  We encourage sophomores to apply.

Attention AP Students: AP exams are available for purchase in the Webstore now!  $97 per test.  No refunds, so purchase carefully.  In-person sales are March 7-11 @ lunch only at the Finance Office outside window.

Spoke submissions are now open!  The theme for the second issue this year is FRUIT.  Please submit your poetry, prose, art and photograph according to the theme to spokesubmissions11 at gmail.com<mailto:spokesubmissions11 at gmail.com>.

Davis High School Orchestra Program Placement Auditions for the 2016-2017 DHS Symphony Orchestra and Baroque Ensemble will be held in PA-3 from February 29th through March 4th.  Check your school music room for sign-up sheets and requirements.  The sign-up deadline is Tuesday, February 23rd.  For questions or if you need a sign-up extension, contact Mr. Moreno at amoreno at djusd.net<mailto:amoreno at djusd.net> .  The final audition schedule will be posted on Thursday, February 25th which will include individual audition time.  Requested times may move around to fit the final schedule.  If you have a conflict with your scheduled time, please email Mr. Moreno ASAP to work it out.

Love to sing?  Come to the DHS Choral Auditions for the Madrigal Singers, Jazz Choir and the Advanced Treble Choir.  Due date for the audition applications is Monday, February 22 with auditions being held March 7-March 9. Seniors! We need you! Are you interested in giving a speech to your graduating class during the ceremony?  Please ask Ms. Carmen Schnathorst for a Graduation Speech Application.  The application and typewritten speech are due April 1, 2016 by 4p.m.  Finalists will be invited to a live audition the week of April 11, 2016. Speakers will be chosen and notified by April 22, 2016.

Performances for The Eden Project are coming up!  You won't want to miss this awesome sci-fi play!  Tickets are $8 for student with ID.  Plan to see it in March with performances on the 4th, 5th, 10th, 11th and 12th   and also, March 6th at 2:00 in the IPAB.

Do you need a job this summer?  The City of Sacramento Parks & Recreation Department is looking for high school students, 16 years and older to work at Camp Sacramento near South Lake Tahoe this summer.  Students can choose from a variety of paid jobs that include room and board.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

SENIORS:  March 2 is the deadline to apply for federal and state financial aid for college.  Don't miss out on getting free money for college!  If you have any questions about completing financial aid applications, come to the Career Center.

SENIORS:  If you're planning to attend UC Davis, have a minimum GPA of 3.5, and you made money by working at a job during high school, you may qualify for the $13,789 Beeghly-Merritt Scholarship!  The deadline to apply is April 1.  Applications are now available in the Career Center.

Join the award-winning HUB staff!  We need photographers, graphic artists, a webmaster and a business manager.  Applications are available outside L-28.  Have your work read by thousands of people!

Create some memories and take Yearbook next year!  Information and applications are available in L-28.

Grad Night! Every graduating senior in Davis (Da Vinci, DSIS, King and DHS) is welcome to celebrate at this all-night, off-the-hook, alcohol/drug-free party on Friday, June 10. Want to help out your community while earning volunteer hours?  Come to the Davis High School Book Delivery Service Club which meets Mondays in L-28 at lunch.  We will be discussing what our program does and possible leadership positions.

Attention all CSF members!  CSF registration began on Tuesday, February 16th and ends on Friday, February 26th, every day at lunch in front of Room P-13 (Ms. O'Brien's room).  Make sure to bring $5, last semester's report card, completed pink sheet and if you are a returning member, the green hour sheet.  Hope to see you there!
