THIS DAY IN HISTORY:   1982 - 30,000 women held hands and encircled the 6-mile radius of the Greenham Common Air Base in Britain in protest against a proposed site of U.S. Cruise missiles there.

ATHLETICS: Interested in Frosh or JV Baseball for the 2017 season? 9th & 10th grade boys are invited to attend a parent/player meeting on Thursday, December 15 at 6:00pm in the DHS library. Info on conditioning and the season will be shared.

TODAY: All NHS members! There will be a general meeting on Monday, December 12th.  We will talk about general information and events.

ACADEMICS:  Hey sophomores! Link Crew will be hosting final study sessions on the 13th, 15th and 16th in L-23, Mr. Williams’ room.  Hours on the 13th and 16th will be from 2:30-4:30.   On the 15th, study hours will be from 12:10-5:00.  You can study by yourself or get tutored by Link Leaders.  Hope to see you there!

ATTENTION SENIORS: Herff Jones will be holding a Parent Night to order senior rings and graduation announcement orders in the DHS Library on December 13th, 5:30-7:30 pm.

SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS: Would you like to do research at UC Davis this summer?  The UC Davis Young Scholars Program offers a six-week summer research opportunity in biology and the natural sciences for high achieving high school students June 25 – August 5.  Students will stay in a UC dorm and conduct research, participate in lab work, go on field trips and earn 5 units of university credit.  Applications are due March 16th.  Come to the Career Center for information about the program, fees and financial assistance.

OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS/MISCELLANEOUS:  Holiday Grams are being sold this Tuesday through next Monday on the Quad at lunchtime.  Candy canes will be sold one for $1 or 3 for $2.  They will be delivered during 4th period on Monday of Finals Week.

Attention all DHS instrumental soloists announcing this year’s DHS Concerto Competition: The annual DHS Orchestra Concerto Competition will be held Wednesday, January 11th, 2017 at 7:00pm on stage in the DHS Brunelle Performance Hall. It is open to all DHS instrumentalist and free to the public to view. The winner of this competition will be given the honor of performing with the DHS Symphony Orchestra at the Mondavi Center in Jackson Hall at the Wennberg Music Festival on Saturday, April 8th, 2017 at 2:30pm as well as a check for $500.00. A sign-up sheet and informational flyer are now on the window of the computer lab in PA-3. Deadline to sign up is Friday December 23rd, 2016. The winner gets $15. And runner up receives $5.
