TODAY: Are you interested in spending a summer in Latin America to develop your leadership skills, live with a host family and design community projects?  If so, come to the Career Center on Monday, September 21 at lunch to learn about Amigos summer and gap year programs.

Calling all tree-huggers!  The Green Team is meeting this Monday, September 21 in Room C-4.  Come help us make a difference at school by encouraging recycling and composting.  Everyone who loves the Earth is welcome!

Hey Devils!  As you might already know, the Homecoming Parade is coming up!  If you know of a class, club, or sport that wants to be included, pick up application forms in C-4 by September 21st and we will see you there!

Today is the United Nations International Day of Peace.  This year's theme is Partnership for Peace - Dignity for All.  The UN aims to create peace by using diplomacy to end conflicts and violence.  If you are interested in learning more about how the UN works or debating pressing issues, come to Model UN every Thursday at lunch in P-25, Mr. Haws' room.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:  DHS Students: If you are interested in being a student representative on our Site Council, please pick up an application from Vice-Principal McHale in the office by Tuesday, September 22.  Applications are due by noon on Wednesday, September 23.

Back to School Night is next Thursday, September 24th.  This is an event for current full and part-time students and their parents/guardians.  Student Government will host a BBQ in the Quad at 5:15 pm.  At 6:00 pm, Principal Brown will host an introductory program in the North Gym.  Following this program, parents/guardians will be asked to attend classes according to their student's schedule.

Picture Make-up Day will be held on Tuesday, September 29th in the West Conference room in the Library.  Order forms are available in the Front Office.  Please see Ms. Perez with any questions.

All Students - Interested in leaving the legacy of the ALL Student Center?  We are looking for your input and participation during the design and construction phases of this project.  Your commitment would be 4 - 6 lunch meetings with the committee.  FREE LUNCH is provided for committing to serving on this committee. PSAT is Wednesday, 10/14!! The cost is $24.00. There are NO Refunds and no transfers. Sales end 10/9. If you feel this is a financial hardship, please contact your counselor immediately.

ACADEMICS/CAREER/VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:  NHS (National Honor Society) is starting soon!  Registration will run from September 21-October 2 at lunch outside of S-12.  You will need to have at least a 3.4 GPA, student ID, a transcript from last semester and $5.  Active members, please also bring your hour sheets from last semester.

CLUBS/EVENTS:  Are you interested in a career in healthcare?  Then come to a general meeting for the Healthcare Careers Club in the Career Center on Tuesday, September 29th.  There will be food!

Don't wait until the last minute!  CSF registration will end this Friday so don't miss out on the biggest club on campus.  Bring your pink sheet, $5 for registration and last spring's report card and hour sheets if you are returning, to P-13 at lunch. If you need an application, go to P-13, the library or the office.  Hope to see you soon.

Key Club is today at lunch outside of S-12.  Bring $13 and a registration form.  Old members should also bring their completed spring hours sheet.  You can find registration forms and spring hours sheets in Room S-12.  Tuesday is the last day to register!  Our first meeting is Wednesday, 9/23.  Stop by to sign up for projects and grab food!  See you there!

Thursday, September 24th is the deadline for submitting information and articles for the October 2015 DHS PTA Newsletter.  Please send news, announcements, etc. to the DHS PTA Media Listserve at DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org<mailto:DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org> and include your name and a parent or faculty name and contact information (email address and phone number) in case the newsletter editor has questions about your submission. The newsletter is generally available around the 1st of each month. This is a great way to inform, notify or enlist parents' help for upcoming DHS school and student activities.
