Want to start and be part of a brand new service club at DHS? Interact, the high school version of Rotary, will hold an informational meeting this Thursday, September 17 in room L-28 at lunch.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Back to School Night is next Thursday, September 24th. This is an event for current full and part-time students and their parents/guardians. Student Government will host a BBQ in the Quad at 5:15 pm. At 6:00 pm, Principal Brown will host an introductory program in the North Gym. Following this program, parents/guardians will be asked to attend classes according to their student's schedule.
Picture Make-up Day will be held on Tuesday, September 29th in the West Conference room in the Library. Order forms are available in the Front Office. Please see Ms. Perez with any questions.
The DHS Site Council is looking for dedicated students to join our Committee. The Site Council consists of Principal Brown, staff, parents and students. The Site Council discusses ways to improve student achievement and supports new programs at its monthly meetings. If you would like to help shape the future of our school, please pick up an application from Vice-Principal McHale in the office by Tuesday, September 22. Applications are due by noon on Wednesday, September 23.
PSAT is Wednesday, 10/14!! The cost is $24.00. There are NO Refunds and no transfers. Sales end 10/9. If you feel this is a financial hardship, please contact your counselor immediately.

ACADEMICS/CAREER/VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: All Students - Interested in leaving the legacy of the ALL Student Center? We are looking for your input and participation during the design and construction phases of this project. Your commitment would be 4 - 6 lunch meetings with the committee. NHS (National Honor Society) is starting soon! Registration will run from September 21-October 2 at lunch outside of S-12. You will need to have at least a 3.4 GPA, student ID, a transcript from last semester and $5. Active members, please also bring your hour sheets from last semester.
Are you interested in spending a summer in Latin America to develop your leadership skills, live with a host family and design community projects? If so, come to the Career Center on Monday, September 21 at lunch to learn about Amigos summer and gap year programs.
CLUBS/EVENTS: Key Club is your key to service! Register for Key club today at lunch outside of S-12. Bring $13 and a registration form. Old members should also bring their completed spring hours sheet. You can find registration forms and spring hours sheets in Room S-12.
Calling all seniors! Want to help build an amazing homecoming float? Bring out your inner Veezus and and come to Ms. McInturf's classroom at N-1 Friday at lunch for the first float meeting. Contact Morgan Metler or Eric Smith with questions.
Calling all tree-huggers! The Green Team is meeting this Monday, September 21 in Room C-4. Come help us make a difference. At the school buy encouraging recycling and composting. Everyone who loves the Earth is welcome!
Are you interested in a career in healthcare? Then come to a general meeting for the Healthcare Careers Club in the Career Center on Tuesday, September 29th. There will be food!
Volunteer Opportunity! Holmes Junior High's After School Homework Club needs high school students to tutor junior high kids from 3:30-5:00 pm Monday - Thursday. Come to the Career Center for more information.
Hey students at DHS! CSF is the largest club and a service club. Bring your completed pink sheet, $5 for registration, last semester's report card and also your hour sheets if returning, to P-13 at lunch. You can get applications from P-13 at lunch. Applications are available from P-13, the library or the brochure rack in the Front Office. Hope to see you soon!
Interested in joining the Environmental Club? Come to our next meeting this Friday in Room S-10 at lunch where we'll discuss projects on helping out the environment.
Interested in learning about Korean culture? Come to the Korean Outreach Club every Friday in Mr. Lee's room in L-14! See you there!
