THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1948 - Mildred "Axis Sally" Gillars was indicted for treason in Washington, DC.  Gillars was a Nazi radio propagandist during World War II. She was convicted and spent 12 years in prison.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: The DHS Site Council is looking for dedicated students to join our Committee.  The Site Council consists of Principal Brown, staff, parents and students.  The Site Council discusses ways to improve student achievement and supports new programs at its monthly meetings.  If you would like to help shape the future of our school, please pick up an application from Vice-Principal McHale in the office by Tuesday, September 22.  Applications are due by noon on Wednesday, September 23.

PSAT is Wednesday, 10/15!! The cost is $24.00. There are NO Refunds and no transfers. Sales end 10/9. If you feel this is a financial hardship, please contact your counselor immediately.

Are you interested in being a Walker Creek CABIN LEADER?  If so, cabin leaders are needed for Pioneer Elementary.  Cabin leaders must work well with children, and have an outgoing personality with an enthusiasm for the outdoors. Guys are encouraged to apply!  Applications are available in the Career Center.

Interested in Sports Medicine or Athletic Training?  The Davis Senior High School Athletic Trainer is looking for someone that is working in this field.  Please contact the Athletic Department for more information.

Hey Devils!  As you might already know, the Homecoming Parade is coming up next month.  If you know of a class, club, or sport that wants to be included, pick up application forms in C-4 by September 21st and we will see you there!

ACADEMICS/CAREER/VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:  Davis Media Access is offering a four-month, non-paid internship where students can gain hands-on experience and exposure to many aspects of community television production, including video coverage of DJUSD events.  Interns must be at least 16 years old and able to work 3-6 hours per week.  The deadline to apply is September 16.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

Attention ALL FALL sport athletes enrolled in INDEPENDENT LIFETIME SPORTS:  please attend the mandatory informational meeting Friday, September 11th, during 7th period, in the small gym.  Just a reminder, you must have made your Fall sports team roster, and already be enrolled in the course to earn credit for this course.  Please be on time.

Help for College!  On September 17th, we will have a CSU Workshop at 7:00 pm in the Brunelle Theater.

Did you know that 1 in 12 Asian/Pacific Islanders suffer from chronic Hepatitis B?  To learn more about Hep B, come to Team HBV's first meeting at lunch on Tuesday, September 15th in S-5, Mrs. Moriarty's room.

Do you speak Spanish?  Do you want to practice your Spanish?  Interested in getting help on your Spanish homework?  Come to the first meeting of the Spanish Tutoring Club at lunch on Monday, September 14 in S-6, Senora Candelario's room.

Hey, hey, hey, it's Friendship Day!  Our first Friendship Day is coming up on September 18th.  If you have gotten an invitation, please turn it in by 9/16!  We hope to see your lovely faces there!

Hey DHS! Want some community service hours, free pizzas and good laughs? Come to the Student Government Room, N01-A at lunch, September 15th for more information about the DHS Hall of Fame Dinner!

Interested in Science and Quiz Bowl?  Get the best of both worlds and join Science Bowl on Monday, 9/14 at lunchtime in S-12.
