*ATHLETICS**: *  Girls Golf vs. Masters @ The Reserve at Spanos   All
Day                         Dismissal: All Day



*WINTER SPORTS PAPERWORK NIGHT:* *One evening only:  Tuesday, 11/3  in the
DHS North Gym lobby*

Submit your sports physical paperwork to receive your athletic clearance
card for Winter sports tryouts. If you cannot make the evening paperwork
night, come by the DHS Athletics Office during school hours.



*JOB OPPORTUNITY:*  The City of Davis is hiring * JUNIOR BASKETBALL COACHES
and OFFICIALS.   *Pay ranges from $10.00 - $12.28 per hour. Students will
work between 3-10 hours per week.  Coaches and officials will teach basic
basketball fundamentals and skills for 3rd through 6th grade boys and girls
basketball teams.  Come to the Career Center for more information.



DHS *Boys’ Lacrosse meeting* on Thursday, November 5th at 7:00 pm in DHS
room N-08.  Parents and players in 9-12th grades who want to try out for
lacrosse this spring are encouraged to attend.  Questions? Email
davislax at gmail.com.



*DHS Fall Athletes*! If you are planning to participate in a winter sport,
stop by the Sports Paperwork Night or the Athletics Office to pick up an
athletics clearance card to give your winter coach.



*DHS Winter Athletes*! Make sure to turn in your sports physical packets to
the Athletics Office prior to the first day of conditioning or tryouts! You
cannot participate without an athletic clearance card. Sports Paperwork
Night one night only: Tuesday, November 3 from 6:00-8:00 pm in the North
Gym lobby or come by the Athletics Office during school hours.



*Winter and Spring Athletes*:  Baseline concussion testing is now available
for sign ups.  Please visit the athletic web page.  Testing will be on
November 5th at 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00 pm.  All athletes must come with the
parent consent form to be administered the test.

The *DSHS Dance Team* will be holding *mid-year tryouts* for the remainder
of the 2015-2016 dance season.  Clinics/tryouts will be held the first week
in November.  Mandatory clinics will be held on November 3rd and 5th from
6pm-8pm in the DSHS Dance Room.  Tryouts will be held on Saturday, November
7th from 2:30 pm-5pm.  If you would like to be part of the team or need
further information please see Coach Perez in the Administration office.
You may also ask a current member of the team for information.
Applications can be picked up in the Administration office.  Applications
are due Tuesday, November 3rd by noon.

Join the *Spanish Conversation Group* if you like speaking Spanish.  We
meet every Monday at lunch in S-6, Sra. Candelario’s room.  All levels of
Spanish are welcome.



Come to *Green Team* Mondays at lunch!  Save the Earth, participate in fun
activities to earn community service hours and eat cookies!  Don’t be mean,

*IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS*:  The Career Center still has many 10th and 11th
grade *student photos* ready to be picked up.  If you purchased pictures
during schedule pick-up in August, the pictures are available in the Career
Center.



*ACADEMICS/CAREERS/OPPORTUNITIES*:  Sophomores are invited to apply
for the *Telluride
Association Sophomore Seminar*, a six-week all-expense paid summer program
where sophomores study topics in the fields of Black and ethnic studies,
explore new academic interests, learn how to thrive in a college
environment, and improve their reading, writing, critical thinking, and
public speaking skills.  Come to the Career Center for more information.



*Davis FFA* is collecting *items for deployed service members*.  If you
have items such as personal care items or non-perishable snack foods, bring
them to O-1A or the box in the Front Office.



The *Stanford School of Medicine* is offering *two-week clinical summer
internships* for high school students interested in a career in Medicine.
Students will take part in fascinating hands on lab activities, learn the
art of diagnosis and treatment, visit the Stanford emergency life flight
station, and experience the rigors and fulfillment of a life in medicine.

*CABIN LEADERS* are needed for *North Davis Elementary School’s trip to
Walker Creek* on January 4th – 8th.  Applications are available in the
Career Center.  The deadline to apply is November 4th.



*Montgomery Elementary* is looking for male cabin leaders for *Walker Creek*
November 30th through December 4th.  Applications may be found in the
Career Center.



*CLUBS/EVENTS**: *  Come join the *Teen Health Awareness Club* on Tuesday,
November 3 in Room S-5 at lunch for a look at upcoming plans.  Healthy
snacks will be served.



Hey Key Clubbers! It’s *Key Club Week*! Come to our general meeting this
Wednesday, 11/4 in Rom S-12 at lunch to learn about new, exciting projects
and to grab some food! See you there!



DHS Ski/Snowboard Swap! Looking for great bargains on new/used ski and
snowboard equipment and clothing? The Annual Ski and Snowboard Swap will be
held on Sunday, November 8th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the DHS Gym on Oak
Avenue, north of 14th Street.  There will be new equipment and clothing
from local ski shops and team members will offer ski and board waxing
services.  If you have items to sell or donate, bring it Saturday, November
7 between 4:00 and 8:00 pm or before the swap begins on Sunday, November 8th
from 7:30 to 8:30.  Fees apply only to items sold with proceeds to benefit

*Volunteer Opportunity*:  *Citizens Who Care for the Elderly* need
volunteers for their Saturday Club program.  Volunteers will shadow a
client throughout the day and assist them with various activities.  Lunch
is provided.  The program is held two Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.
to 3 p.m. at the Davis Senior Center.  Come to the Career Center for more
information.



Do you want to add Dragon Slayer to your resume? If so, the * Dungeons and
Dragons Club* meets in Ms. Curry’s room, P-14 at lunch.  We meet on Mondays
and Wednesdays of the 2nd and 3rd weeks of every month.



Listen up DHS!  Student Government is putting on the first ever *Trivia
Bowl*!  Make your team of 4 and test your knowledge against other teams in
a fierce competition.  Applications are available in N-1A and are due
November 4th.



Interested in Business, Economics and cash money?  Join the * Future
Business Leaders of America* at P-10 on Tuesday, November 3rd.   Food will
be provided.



Are you interested in learning more about *South Korea*?  Do you want an
awesome summer adventure?  Then come to the *Davis Cultural Exchange Club*
Tuesdays at lunch in Mr. Williams Room, P-14.



The Red Cross club is planning for the first *blood drive* of the year
which will take place, Monday, Nov. 9th in the south gym.  Giving blood
takes approximately one hour from start to finish and is safe and easy.  To
donate blood, you must be at least 16, weight at least 110 and be free from
cold or flu symptoms for at least 48 hours.  If interested, please sign up
on the quad at lunch this week or at the nurse’s office by Friday, Nov. 6.
Walk-ins are accepted only if you are 18 or older.  For more information,
see Ms. Youtsey, the school nurse.



If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball. Start thinking about
your *intramural
dodgeball team* because sign-ups are due November 3rd   in N1-A !  Teams
are made up of 6-9 players and winners will get a prize and ultimate
bragging rights.



Club Fair applications are available in the Student Government Room
(N1-A).  Applications must be returned by November 3rd by the latest.
The *Clubs
Fair* will be on November 10th at lunch and the club with the best booth
will win $100.00!
