Davis Rugby Club plays Jesuit tonight, Friday, January 30th.  Come pack the Davis stadium and cheer on your Davis Boys
Rugby Club as they play at 5:30 pm and 7:15 pm!  Admittance is free.

Attention all boys 9-12th grades interested in trying out for boys volleyball.  Tryouts are coming up soon.  Come to an
information meeting on Wednesday, February 4th at 4:00 pm in the small gym.  Meet the coaches and get tryout days
and times.  Players and parents are welcome.  Email Ms. Crawford with any questions.

DHS Boys Lacrosse is open. You can register by going to the domain www.dhslax.com which will bring you to the high
school men's lacrosse page on the DLA website. You can also find this page by clicking the tab on the left titled "2015
Davis HS Varsity and JV. Try outs will be held February 9-11 all sports paperwork must be turned in prior to try outs.

Hey Key Clubbers!  Spring registration is going on today, at lunch in front of Room S-12.   It will be running until Friday,
2/6.  Old members only need to bring their fall hours sheets and new members should bring $6 to register.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:  On Monday, February 2, immediately following 2nd period, Sophomores and Juniors
will go to the North Gym for our Student Elections Assembly.  Seniors will go to the Brunelle Theater to attend a
presentation about what young men and women need to know about sexual assault.  Because of the nature of this
conversation, if you wish to opt out of the assembly on Monday, ask your second period teacher to give you a pass to
Mr. Elliott.  He will take roll and you can spend the period in L-25.

Attention 10th graders: CAHSEE testing (the Exit Exam) is next week, Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday is a Thursday
Block schedule and even if you do not have a 1st period, you must report to the appropriate gym by 7:45am. On
Wednesday, testing begins at 8:55am. Students with the last name beginning A-P will report to the NORTH gym and
students with Q-Z will report to the SOUTH gym.

AP students: AP exams are now on sale at the web store only. If you are in need of financial assistance, please contact
your counselor immediately.

ACADEMICS/CAREERS/OPPORTUNITIES:  If you are a junior boy or junior girl interested in government, come to the
Career Center to apply for the American Legion Boys State and Girls State all-expense paid summer programs.  Students
will actively participate in all phases of creating and running a working government. Those who apply must be strong
academically, have leadership skills, and have an interest in community and government. Deadline to apply is February
3.  Applications are available in the Career Center.

CLUBS/EVENTS:   Do you have someone special in your life? Have Rebella Capella, DHS's own acapella group, sing to your
loved one!  These singing grams come with a flower and a song at $4 each, but hurry!  They'll only sing to the first
twenty requests!  You can buy these grams on the Quad on Thursday, February 5th, Friday the 6th, Monday the 8th or
Tuesday the 9th!

Cancer Awareness Club Fact of the Week: The 5 year survival rate for all cancers diagnosed in 2004-2010 was 68%; up
from 49% in 1975-1977.

Come be a math and science tutor!  Application forms for Math and Science Tutors Club are available in S-9 and are due
February 6th.  For more information, come to S-9 at lunch any day Monday through Thursday to talk to a club officer.

Do you have a desire to wield unfettered power after the proceedings at the school?  Do you want personal control over
the vast DHS treasury?  Do you want to learn how to make a decent poster?  Apply for Student Government today.
Applications are due February 13th.

Hey there, I can see your constitutional rights aren't the only thing you've been exercising!  Make sure to come and vote
either next Thursday, February 5th or Friday the 6th before school, at lunch and after school for Student Government
Elections in Room C-4.

Get ready for Break the Record Night Spirit Week! Monday is Pajama Day, Tuesday is Flannel Day, Wednesday is Tropical
Day, Thursday is Prep Day and Friday is White Out!  If you don't look ridiculous, you aren't doing it right!

The Jazz Choir presents the 26th Annual Jazz Choir Cabaret Dinner and Show, "Lights Up," Saturday, February 7th and
Sunday, February 8th at 6:00 pm at Emerson Junior High School.  The event features musical and dance numbers by the
Jazz Choir accompanied by the Jazz Combo and a delicious meal catered by Cracchiolo's.  Tickets are $40 for adults and
$20 for students.  Table seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.  Ticket order forms, a preview of auction
items and further information are found at www.charityauctionorganizer.com/auction/cabaret2015.  Can't make the
Cabaret Dinner Show?  Enjoy the music and dance of the cabaret at a special concert on Tuesday, February 10th at 6:30
pm at the Brunelle Performance Hall.  Concert tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.

The Davis Homeless Shelter is in need of winter supplies for the cold season.  Non-perishable foods, soaps and
shampoos, as well as gently used winter clothing are being collected in a donation bin inside the front office.  Anything
helps!
