Attention new and returning Track and Field Athletes: There will be an informational meeting for track and field athletes
tonight, Thursday, January 22 at 6:30pm in the Davis High School library. We have several new policies and procedures
for this season, so Coach Elliott would like all new and returning athletes and/or parents to attend. If you would like to
participate in track and field this season but are unable to attend, please let Coach Elliott know.

Night 2015 are on sale now! Tickets are $75 each until January 31 after which time the price goes up to $90.

Grad Night is an all-night party for graduates of the four Davis High Schools and will be held on Friday, June 12 from
9:30pm-5:00am at Emerson Junior High School. Graduates will spend the evening enjoying music, dancing, casino
games, outdoor activities, a hypnotist show, refreshments and a raffle. It promises to be an unforgettable night for our
graduates, the perfect sendoff after 13 years of hard work!
SENIORS: If you applied to private colleges, they will need to see your first semester senior grades. Please order your
midyear transcripts ASAP.
Attention AP students: AP exams are available for purchase in the Webstore now! $97.00 per test. NO refunds, so
purchase carefully! Stay tuned for more information, including dates for in person sales in March.
ACADEMICS/CAREERS/OPPORTUNITIES: If you are a junior boy or junior girl interested in government, come to the
Career Center to apply for the American Legion Boys State and Girls State all-expense paid summer programs. Students
will actively participate in all phases of creating and running a working government. Those who apply must be strong
academically, have leadership skills, and have an interest in community and government. Deadline to apply is February
3. Applications are available in the Career Center.
UC Davis is offering their annual COSMOS four-week summer program for high achieving math and science students.
Students live on campus and attend classes in a STEM related field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
Applications are due February 20. Come to the Career Center for information about the program, fees, financial
assistance and how to apply.
Are you interested in learning about the United States Army? If so, come to the Career Center on Friday, January 23 at
lunch to speak with an Army representative.
CLUBS/EVENTS: Do you like to shoot hoops? Can you do an alley-oop? Either way, sign up for the Student vs. Staff
Basketball Game! You don't need to be able to dunk, just go out, have fun and show your spunk! Sign up in C-4 until
January 23rd. You cannot have a 7th period. Boys and girls are welcome!
The Cancer Awareness Club Fact of the Week: The fastest increasing cancer in both men and women is thyroid cancer,
which is the most common endocrine cancer. Come to N-12 Friday at lunch for our next club meeting.
The Davis Homeless Shelter is in need of winter supplies for the cold season. Non-perishable foods, soaps and
shampoos, as well as gently used winter clothing is being collected in a donation bin inside the Front Office. Anything
helps!
Do you know that 330 children die from measles and rubella every day? The Measles and Rubella Campaign hosted by
the Red Cross Club is selling pins on the quad on Friday, January 23rd at lunch. Pins are $1 each, providing one vaccine
for a child in low-income countries. Please help eliminate the virus in our world today by donating! Thank you! We have
candy!
The Jazz Choir presents the 26th Annual Jazz Choir Cabaret Dinner and Show, "Lights Up," Saturday, February 7th and
Sunday, February 8th at 6:00 pm at Emerson Junior High School. The event features musical and dance numbers by the
Jazz Choir accompanied by the Jazz Combo and a delicious meal catered by Cracchiolo's. Tickets are $40 for adults and
$20 for students. Table seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Ticket order forms, a preview of auction
items and further information are found at www.charityauctionorganizer.com/auction/cabaret2015. Can't make the
Cabaret Dinner Show? Enjoy the music and dance of the cabaret at a special concert on Tuesday, February 10th at 6:30
pm at the Brunelle Performance Hall. Concert tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
Davis Idol 2015 is coming! Come and hear DHS Students wow us with their singing talent and see who will walk away
with the coveted title of Davis Idol! Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased from any ATC (Advanced Treble
Choir) member or at Watermelon Music. Preliminary rounds featuring 24 contestants will take place on January 23rd
and 24th with the exciting, red-carpet finale on January 31st! All shows begin at 7:00 pm. To avoid being shut out of a
sell-out show, ticket packages for all three nights are available for pre-sale for only $22! Individual tickets for
preliminary nights are $8 in advance or $10 at the door; finale tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. There will
be fabulous musical entertainment all three nights! Don't miss the fun!
DHS Student Leaders of Clubs, Booster Groups, ASB: Monday, January 26 is the deadline for submitting information and
articles for the February 2015 DHS PTA Newsletter. Please send news, announcements, etc. to the DHS PTA Media
Listserve at DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org and include your name and a parent or faculty name and contact
information (email address and phone number) in case the newsletter editor has questions about your submission. The
newsletter is generally available around the 1st of each month. This is a great way to inform, notify or enlist parents'
help for upcoming DHS school and student activities.
