THIS DAY IN HISTORY:  1985 - The most-watched Super Bowl game in history was seen by an estimated 115.9 million
people. The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Miami Dolphins, 38-16. Super Bowl XIX marked the first time that TV
commercials sold for a million dollars a minute.

There will be a meeting for players and their parents interested in playing for the boys golf team on Thursday, 1/22, at
7:00 pm in N5.

Attention new and returning Track and Field Athletes: There will be an informational meeting for all new and returning
track and field athletes on Thursday, January 22.  The meeting begins at 6:30pm and takes place in the Davis High School
library.  We have several new policies and procedures for this season, so Coach Elliott would like all new and returning
athletes and/or parents to attend.  If you would like to participate in track and field this season but are unable to attend,
please let Coach Elliott know.

An information meeting for 9th and 10th grade players (and parents) interested in trying out for DHS Girls JV Soccer will
be held on Wednesday, January 21st at 7:30PM in DHS Room N-8. The tryout process for 9th and 10th grade players
begins on Monday February 2nd with check-in and conditioning.  All DHS sports participation forms must be submitted
to and cleared by the DHS Athletic Department prior to participation in conditioning or tryouts.

Girls in grades 11 & 12 who are interested in trying out for Varsity Girls Soccer this spring should attend a meeting on
Wednesday, January 21 at 12:30 in the DHS library. This meeting is for players only. Coach Sara Stone will be going over
information about the tryouts and spring season.

TODAY: Hey DHS musicians! Come to the first Young Musician's Outreach Club meeting of the new semester.  Meeting
dates have been changed to every other Tuesday, starting on Tuesday, January 20th in Room PA-3.  Join us to learn
about upcoming outreach events.  Hope to see you there!

The Classical Music Appreciation Society will meet on Tuesday, January 20th in Room P-22 at noon.  Bring a CD of a
favorite piece of classical music to share with the group.

Wheel on out to the DHS Blue Devil's Unicycling Club every Tuesday at lunchtime at N-11.  We will teach you to unicycle!
Join our great community and hang out with others who are interested in this great sport.  We can't wait to see you
here!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:  SENIORS:  This is the time of year to apply for financial aid for college!  To apply for
federal and state financial aid, you need to complete the FAFSA application by March 2. Come to the Career Center for
information about the financial aid process.

SENIORS:  If you applied to private colleges, they will need to see your first semester senior grades.  Please order your
midyear transcripts ASAP.

Attention AP students: AP exams are available for purchase in the Webstore now! $97.00  per test.  NO refunds, so
purchase carefully!  Stay tuned for more information, including dates for in person sales in March.

ACADEMICS/CAREERS/OPPORTUNITIES:  UC Davis is offering their annual COSMOS four-week summer program for high
achieving math and science students.  Students live on campus and attend classes in a STEM related field of Science,
Technology, Engineering and Math.  Applications are due February 20.  Come to the Career Center for information about
the program, fees, financial assistance and how to apply.

The Stanford School of Medicine is offering a new two week clinical summer internship for high school students
interested in a career in Medicine.  Students take part in fascinating hands-on lab activities, learn the art of diagnosis
and treatment, visit the Stanford emergency life flight station, and experience the rigors and fulfillment of a life in
medicine.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

CLUBS/EVENTS:  Dude, Be Nice!  Make sure to be on campus and in the North Gym on January 22nd at the beginning of
lunch!  There will be a person recognized for their hard work.

Hey Key Clubbers!  We will be having our next general meeting this Wednesday, January 21st in S-12 at lunch!  Be sure
to come learn about the new projects to get those last minute hours!  See you there!

Do you like to shoot hoops?  Can you do an alley-oop?  Either way, sign up for the Student vs. Staff Basketball Game!
You don't need to be able to dunk, just go out, have fun and show your spunk!  Sign up in C-4 from January 20th - 23rd.
You cannot have a 7th period.  Boys and girls are welcome!

The Jazz Choir presents the 26th Annual Jazz Choir Cabaret Dinner and Show, "Lights Up," Saturday, February 7th and
Sunday, February 8th at 6:00 pm at Emerson Junior High School.  The event features musical and dance numbers by the
Jazz Choir accompanied by the Jazz Combo and a delicious meal catered by Cracchiolo's.  Tickets are $40 for adults and
$20 for students.  Table seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.  Ticket order forms, a preview of auction
items and further information are found at www.charityauctionorganizer.com/auction/cabaret2015.  Can't make the
Cabaret Dinner Show?  Enjoy the music and dance of the cabaret at a special concert on Tuesday, February 10th at 6:30
pm at the Brunelle Performance Hall.  Concert tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Davis Idol 2015 is coming!  Come and hear DHS Students wow us with their singing talent and see who will walk away
with the coveted title of Davis Idol!  Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased from any ATC (Advanced Treble
Choir) member or at Watermelon Music.  Preliminary rounds featuring 24 contestants will take place on January 23rd
and 24th with the exciting, red-carpet finale on January 31st!  All shows begin at 7:00 pm.  To avoid being shut out of a
sell-out show, ticket packages for all three nights are available for pre-sale for only $22!  Individual tickets for
preliminary nights are $8 in advance or $10 at the door; finale tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.  There will
be fabulous musical entertainment all three nights! Don't miss the fun!
