ATHLETICS:   An information meeting for 9th and 10th grade players (and parents) interested in trying out for DHS Girls
JV Soccer will be held on Wednesday, January 21st at 7:30PM in DHS Room N-8. The tryout process for 9th and 10th
grade players begins on Monday February 2nd with check-in and conditioning.  All DHS sports participation forms must
be submitted to and cleared by the DHS Athletic Department prior to participation in conditioning or tryouts.

Girls in grades 11 & 12 who are interested in trying out for Varsity Girls Soccer this spring should attend a meeting on
Wednesday, January 21 at 12:30 in the DHS library. This meeting is for players only. Coach Sara Stone will be going over
information about the tryouts and spring season.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Attention AP students: AP exams are available for purchase in the Webstore now!
$97.00 per test.  NO refunds, so purchase carefully!  Stay tuned for more information, including dates for in person sales
in March.

Attention all DHS students: DHS sweats are now available for purchase from the FINANCE OFFICE at lunchtime!
Sweatshirts are available in Royal Blue, Grey and Navy and come in either hoodie or crew-neck styles.  Sweatpants are
available in Royal Blue only.  The cost for the hoodie is $20, crew neck sweatshirts and sweatpants are $15.  Purchase
quick before they sell out!

ACADEMICS/CAREERS/OPPORTUNITIES:  The National College Resource Foundation is hosting its 12th Annual Black
College Expo College and Career Fair on Saturday, January 24 from 9-5 at the Oakland Marriott Convention Center.
11th and 12th grade students will have an opportunity to learn about financial aid and scholarships, meet college
recruiters, attend college and career seminars, workshops, and more!  Come to the Career Center for more information.

The Stanford School of Medicine is offering a new two week clinical summer internship for high school students
interested in a career in Medicine.  Students will take part in fascinating hands on lab activities, learn the art of diagnosis
and treatment, visit the Stanford emergency life flight station, and experience the rigors and fulfillment of a life in
medicine.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:  Pioneer Elementary needs tutors for their afterschool program on Monday, Tuesday or
Wednesday from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.  Tutors must have basic skills in 6th grade math, writing and other subjects to help
students with their homework for an hour.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

Davis High School Orchestra Program Placement Auditions for the 2015-2016 DHS Symphony Orchestra and DHS
Baroque Ensemble will be held on March 2nd through 6th.  Check your school music room for signup sheets and
requirements.  The Signup Deadline is Friday, February 19th.  For questions or schedule conflicts, contact Mr. Moreno
ASAP to work it out.  amoreno at djusd.net.  The audition schedule will be posted on Monday, February 23rd.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY:  KDVS, the local freeform radio station in Davis needs interns to help with general station
tasks, including security updates and organization of their large vinyl music collection.  This internship gives students
experience in the competitive field of media.  There is no age or GPA requirement.  Deadline to apply is January 20th.

Davis Media Access is offering a four-month, non-paid internship where students can gain hands-on experience and
exposure to many aspects of community television production, including video coverage of DJUSD events.  Interns must
be at least 16 years old and able to work 3-6 hours per week.  The deadline to apply is January 16.  Come to the Career
Center for more information.

CLUBS/EVENTS:  The next Healthcare Careers Club meeting will be on Friday, January 16th in the Career Center.   UC
Davis students will present about medical and healthcare aspects of diabetes, including careers in endocrinology,
pharmacy and diabetes education.

The Jazz Choir presents the 26th Annual Jazz Choir Cabaret Dinner and Show, "Lights Up," Saturday, February 7th and
Sunday, February 8th at 6:00 pm at Emerson Junior High School.  The event features musical and dance numbers by the
Jazz Choir accompanied by the Jazz Combo and a delicious meal catered by Cracchiolo's.  Tickets are $40 for adults and
$20 for students.  Table seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.  Ticket order forms, a preview of auction
items and further information can be found at www.charityauctionorganizer.com/auction/cabaret2015.  Can't make the
Cabaret Dinner Show?  Enjoy the music and dance of the cabaret at a special concert on Tuesday, February 10th at 6:30
pm at the Brunelle Performance Hall.  Concert tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Davis Idol 2015 is coming!  Come and hear DHS Students wow us with their singing talent and see who will walk away
with the coveted title of Davis Idol!  Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased from any ATC (Advanced Treble
Choir) member or at Watermelon Music.  Preliminary rounds featuring 24 contestants will take place on January 23rd
and 24th with the exciting, red-carpet finale on January 31st!  All shows begin at 7:00 pm.  To avoid being shut out of a
sell-out show, ticket packages for all three nights are available for pre-sale for only $22!  Individual tickets for
preliminary nights are $8 in advance or $10 at the door; finale tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.  There will
be fabulous musical entertainment all three nights! Don't miss the fun!

Wheel on out to the DHS Blue Devil's Unicycling Club every Tuesday at lunch in N-11.  We will teach you to unicycle!
Join our great community and hang out with others who are interested in this great sport! We can't wait to see you
here!

Feminism Club's Supply Drive started on Monday, December 15th and ends January 16th.  The Supply Drive supports the
Empower Yolo Organization, formerly known as the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Center.  Boxes to donate
items will be around campus; look for them in your classrooms and the Front Office. Items needed are:
Toiletries, Toilet paper, Utensils, Diapers, Baby wipes, Pots and pans, Paper towels, Napkins, Cleaning supplies and
Garbage bags
