HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

THIS DAY IN HISTORY:  1941 - Mount Rushmore was declared complete after 14 years of work. At the time the 60-foot
busts of U.S. Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln were finished.

Play Rugby!   No one is too big or too small to play, and no experience is necessary.  Come to an introductory meeting
for 9th-12th grade players and parents on Wednesday, November 12 from 6:00 p m to 7:00 pm in the DHS Library.  We
are forming both boys and girls teams.  Contact Head Coach Andy Malpass at andy at aj-construction.com with questions.

Sports Paperwork Nights for DHS Winter Athletes: Wednesday, 11/5 and Thursday, 11/6 from 6-8:00 pm in the North
Gym lobby.  Turn in your sports physical packet and get your clearance card to take to Winter sports tryouts.  Paperwork
must be on file in the Athletics Office prior to the first day of tryouts!

Attention DHS Fall Athletes!  If you plan to try-out for a Winter sport, stop by the Athletics Office or come to a sports
paperwork night to get a copy of your clearance card to take to  your Winter coach.

TODAY:    Are you interested in learning about the United States Army?  If so, come to the Career Center at lunch on
Friday, October 31st to meet with an Army representative.

SENIORS: The first deadline for senior ads in the yearbook is HERE - Turn in order forms to P-21 (Achimore) by today,
October 31st, Halloween, to ensure your senior ad is in the yearbook.

Due today: Creative Designs for the DHS Car Club t-shirt!  Electronic or hand-drawn submissions to Mr. Thayer, via email,
(rthayer at djusd.net) or in person in Room O-3.

Mommy has been telling you are special since you were born.  Show off that special talent at DHS Factor.  Pick up an
application in C-4 and turn it in today, October 31st.

MISCELLANEOUS:  Volunteer Opportunity! The SPCA Thrift Store is looking for volunteers to work in the store organizing
and stocking shoes, linens and clothing.  Volunteers can work anytime between 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.  Come to the Career
Center more information.

Montgomery Elementary is still looking for two male cabin leaders for Walker Creek for December 1st through
December 5th.  You can stop by Montgomery Elementary to pick up the forms.

Many school pictures are still waiting to be picked up in the Career Center!  Come to the Career Center if you don't have
your pictures!
It's LGBT History Month!  Did you know that legal inequalities can cost $300,000. over a lifetime experienced by same-
sex couples.

CLUBS/EVENTS:  Do you speak Spanish and like to teach others?  If so, come join the Spanish Tutoring Club at lunch on
Monday, November 3rd in S-6.  We will be discussing tutoring opportunities.

Hey DHS!  Join the Blue Devil Unicycle Club and come to N-10 every Wednesday at lunch to learn to unicycle and be in
parades!  We have great leadership and a great community.  Please join us!

Cancer Awareness  Club Fact of the week: Each year it is estimated that over 220,000 women in the U.S. will be
diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die.

Where can you meet Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, Cinderella and her Prince and Jack with his beanstalk?  At DHS
Drama's fall musical, 'Into the Woods' performed on November 7th, 8th, 13th, 14th and 15th at 7:00 in the IPAB!  There
will be another performance on November 9th at 2:00 pm.  Be careful what you wish for!

DHS Parents, enjoy an afternoon of wine tasting, epicurean delights, silent auction, art, and music benefitting the Davis
High School's Advanced Treble Choir on Sunday, November 2nd 2014 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Pence Gallery in
downtown Davis.   There will be with wine tasting from a number of local wineries and appetizer pairings provided by
the ATC parent group.  An intimate performance by the choir featuring a number of songs will follow.  Silent auction bids
can be made throughout the event.  The gallery will display unique abstract paintings titled 'The Sign of Rhythm' by
Sacramento artist, Mark Emerson.  Proceeds will benefit the Advanced Treble Choir at Davis High School as they prepare
for an educational performance trip to Seattle and Vancouver.   To reserve tickets, email atcboard at gmail.com or
contact kathykperez at gmail.com.  Tickets will be sold at $25 until November 1st and $30 at the Door.  Please make
