ATHLETICS:   Attention DHS Fall Athletes!  If you plan to try-out for a Winter sport, stop by the Athletics Office or come
to a sports paperwork night to get a copy of your clearance card to take to your Winter coach.

Attention all WINTER sport athletes who have made their Winter team roster and planned in their schedule to earn ILS
credit during their Winter sport:  There will be a mandatory information meeting this Wednesday, November 19, 2:30pm
in the small gym.  At this meeting, you will receive the information and coursework for the ILS course.  In order to be
officially enrolled in Winter ILS, you must attend this meeting and receive the information.  Email Ms. Crawford or Mr.
Ariola for questions.

TODAY: Hey DHS Chess Clubbers! Swing by today at lunch in L-20 (Mr. Vasquez's room) to buy your Chess Club t-shirt.
 Each one is $14 and they are awesome! See you there for fun games of Chess (all levels are welcome).

Want to brighten someone's day? Come to the Random Acts of Kindness Club in O-6 today, Tuesday, November 18th.
We will discuss how to spread kindness throughout the school.  Treats will be provided; hope we see you there!

Today, Tuesday, November 18th, Dr. Amy Chen, a pediatrician at Davis Kaiser, will give us some "Tips on how to stay
healthy this winter!"  Dr. Chen will also tell us about her career.  She was formerly a middle school science and math
teacher before returning to school to obtain her medical degree at the University of Vermont.  This talk will be held in S-
5 at lunchtime.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Seniors: DHS has a few options for how to conduct the graduation ceremony with
respect to the gowns worn by graduating seniors.  We would like your input as to the best option.  Please go to your
School Loop email or the DHS website to access the link to the survey.  All seniors and parents are encouraged to
participate.

Seniors - How are you going to leave your mark on DHS?  By purchasing a brick or paver with your name on it that will go
in front of the stadium.  Visit dhsblueandwhite.org for more details!

ACADEMICS/CAREERS:  Are you interested in exploring the world? If so, come to the Career Center at lunch on
Wednesday November 19 to learn about AFS Intercultural Study Abroad Programs.  You'll hear from students who
recently studied abroad in France & Italy and a current AFS exchange student from Switzerland. Hear their stories of
living in a foreign country and learn about your chances to study abroad or host an exchange student.

SENIORS:  Need free money for college?  Then come to the DHS FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP on Tuesday, December 2 at
7:00 p.m. in the IPAB.  At the workshop you'll learn about the many sources of student financial aid and how to
complete financial aid applications.  All seniors and their parents are invited to attend.  Come to the Career Center for
more information.

JUNIORS AND SENIORS -   Would you like to do research at UC Davis this summer?  The UC Davis Young Scholars
Program offers a six-week summer research opportunity in biology and natural sciences for high achieving high school
students.  Students will stay in a UC dorm and conduct research, participate in lab work, go on field trips and earn 5 units
of university credit.  Applications are due March 19.  Come to the Career Center for information about the program,
fees, and financial assistance.

CLUBS/EVENTS:  Drum roll please... The winner of 2014-15 Car Club t-shirt design contest is Justin Gee! Congratulations,
Justin. Please visit room O-3 to receive your prize. A big thanks to all those who participated in the contest.  All of this
year's entrees are available for viewing on the Davis High Car Club Facebook page.

Interested in watching movies in French and eating French food?  Want to tutor students in French?  Need to be tutored
in French?  Come join us every Tuesday at lunch in French Club in Room O-4!

Don't stop your homeroom class from getting Chipotle! Bring in canned food to help your class win a Chipotle lunch.
The next canned food pickup will be Wednesday, November 19th.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Club is meeting on Wednesday, November 19th in Room PA-8 at lunch time.  Bring a
toy, any game or stuffed animal to the meeting to donate to children and receive a free yummy cupcake!

The Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Club is having its first speaker on Wednesday, November 19
at lunchtime in Room N-7.  Come and hear a UCD professor speak about her experience in Biology.

What are your plans next Thursday? Come and watch, it's not a play! Dancing, singing, lots of fun, come on out
everyone!  DHS Factor is at 7:00 in the IPAB next Thursday, November 20th.  $4.00 with ASB, $5.00 without.

DO YOU VOLUNTEER? Girls, ages 14 to 17, with a strong volunteer project should apply for the Violet Richardson Award,
a $1,000 grant from Soroptimist International of Davis.  Priority is given to applicants whose work focuses on one project
that wasn't undertaken to earn a different award.  Download an application at http://www.sidavis.org/awards and
include photos, news clippings and other supporting documents.  Send submissions (digital only) and questions to
Wendy Weitzel at wendyedit at gmail.com. Deadline is Dec. 1.

Davis High School Rent-A-Band for the Holidays! Planning a holiday party for home or business?  Make it truly special
with a live musical performance by Davis High School Band students!  A band ensemble of 6-12 players will serenade you
for $200. for one hour.  Piano soloists ($80 per hour) may also be available.  Donating a performance makes a great gift
for a nursing home or non-profit organization.  Proceeds support the DHS Band Program.  Contact Diane Layman at (530)
