ATHLETICS:   Play Rugby!   No one is too big or too small to play, and no experience is necessary.  Come to an
introductory meeting for 9th-12th grade players and parents on Wednesday, November 12 from 6:00 p m to 7:00 pm in
the DHS Library.  We are forming both boys and girls teams.  Contact Head Coach Andy Malpass at andy at aj-
construction.com with questions.

Sports Paperwork Nights for DHS Winter Athletes:  Tonight, Wednesday, 11/5 and Thursday, 11/6 from 6-8:00 pm in the
North Gym lobby.  Turn in your sports physical packet and get your clearance card to take to Winter sports tryouts.
Paperwork must be on file in the Athletics Office prior to the first day of tryouts!

Attention DHS Fall Athletes!  If you plan to try-out for a Winter sport, stop by the Athletics Office or come to a sports
paperwork night to get a copy of your clearance card to take to your Winter coach.

TODAY:    If you would like to learn about diabetes, why this disease is on the rise, and what you can do to reduce your
risk of getting diabetes, join us at lunch in the Career Center on Wednesday, November 5th.  Dr. William Arness, an
endocrinologist for Kaiser will be here to present information on diabetes.  Dr. Arness will also discuss his medical career
and choice of medical specialty.   Sandwiches and snacks will be available!

Latinos, listen up!  Today there will be a L.U.C.E. meeting in Mr. Gonzalez' room during lunch.  All Latinos and Latinas,
come and eat some free real nachos and tostadas.  We will also be voting for our officers.

What is awesome about Wednesdays?  The DHS Unicycling Club!  At N-10, we need you to bolster our ranks and learn to
unicycle!  Come have a blast every Wednesday in N-10 at lunch on a unicycle!

SENIORS: Come to the quad at lunch to turn in your senior quote all day this week.  Quotes must be 20 words or less,
school-appropriate, include an author and be written on a flash card.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Reminder 11th and 12th graders: If you received a CAHSEE make-up notice for
Wednesday, please report directly to the Library at the start of school for testing.

The DHS Climate Committee will meet this Friday in Café Diablo located next to C-3.  Everyone is welcome.

Attention Fall ILS students: Last assignments are due Friday, November 7th.  Get your work in on time! Thanks!

On Thursday, November 6th during fifth period in the North Gym, a real life DUI trial will be conducted on campus,
complete with judge, prosecution, defense and a local defendant.  All senior-only classes fifth period are required to
attend.  All seniors from mixed classes are to be allowed to attend as well.  Check in with your teacher to get the work
you will miss during your fifth period.  If you have any questions, please direct them to Mr. Morgan in C-4.

ACADEMICS/CAREERS:  Seeking gold (medals) and glory in a school-against-school battle of intellect?  Join Academic
Decathlon!  All grades and GPAs are welcome; we will be meeting this Friday at lunch in L-20.  Don't miss out!

Bank of America is offering their Student Leaders' summer program for juniors and seniors.  This is an opportunity for
you to work as a paid intern at a local nonprofit, attend a week-long, all-expenses paid, Student Leadership Summit in
Washington, D.C., and develop leadership and career skills.  The deadline to apply is January 31, 2015.  Come to the
Career Center for more information.

MISCELLANEOUS:  Montgomery Elementary is still looking for two male cabin leaders for Walker Creek for December 1st
through December 5th.  You can stop by Montgomery Elementary to pick up the forms.

CLUBS/EVENTS:  Hey, want to hear the most annoying sound in world?  AAAAAAAAAA!! Please turn in your Friendship
Day permission slip to the office by Thursday, November 6th or bring it with you to Friendship Day.

Hello DHS!  LEAD is coming up with a new event!  On November 14th, be sure to join and participate on 'High Five' Day.
You might win surprise prizes from high-fiving 'mystery students' around the campus!

DHS Ski and Snowboard Swap! Looking for great bargains on new/used ski and snowboard equipment and clothing?  The
Annual Ski and Snowboard Swap will be held on Sunday, November 9 from 9:00 am to 2:00 p m in the DHS gym on Oak
Avenue north of 14th Street.  Admission is $3.00 for the first two hours and then free after 11:00 am.  There will be new
equipment and clothing from local ski shops and team members will offer ski and board waxing services.  If you have
something to sell or donate, Bring it Saturday, November 8 between 4:00 and 8:00 pm or before the swap on Sunday,
November 9th from 7:30 to 8:30 am.  Fees apply on to items that are sold.  Proceeds will benefit the Davis High Ski

Where can you meet Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, Cinderella and her Prince and Jack with his beanstalk?  At DHS
Drama's fall musical, 'Into the Woods' performed on November 7th, 8th, 13th, 14th and 15th at 7:00 in the IPAB!  There
will be another performance on November 9th at 2:00 pm.  Be careful what you wish for!

Davis High School Rent-A-Band for the Holidays! Planning a holiday party for home or business?  Make it truly special
with a live musical performance by Davis High School Band students!  A band ensemble of 6-12 players will serenade you
for $200. for one hour.  Piano soloists ($80 per hour) may also be available.  Donating a performance makes a great gift
for a nursing home or non-profit organization.  Proceeds support the DHS Band Program.  Contact Diane Layman at (530)
