THIS DAY IN HISTORY:  1962 - Buck (John) O'Neil became the first black coach in major league baseball when he
accepted the job with the Chicago Cubs.

TODAY:  Powder Puff is today!  There will be face/body paint in the quad at lunch.  The game starts at 6:00 but come
early for an ice cream social and yearbook signing outside of the stadium starting at 5:00.  Crow Canyon will be playing!

If you applied for 2014-2015 LINK CREW, remember to come to the North Gym at 1:00 pm today.  We are looking
forward to seeing you.

Ice Cream Social: Starts at 5:00 on the bike plaza in front of the Ron and Mary Brown Stadium. Come out for free ice
cream and to sign yearbooks. Crow Canyon will be there playing music. It's Free!

Powderpuff: Come see who has the strength, the skill, and the determination to win as the Juniors take on the Seniors in
our annual Powderpuff Football game. Our male cheerleaders will entertain us at half time, too!  The game starts at six
and will be done by seven.

Senior Awards Night is almost here!  ALL SENIORS are invited and encouraged to come to Senior Awards Night on
Tuesday, June 3 at 6:00 p.m. in the IPAB.  This is a fun and enthusiastic event and we look forward to seeing you and
your family there!  Now posted in the window of the main office and the Career Center are the names of all students
receiving scholarships, awards, or special recognition at Senior Awards Night! Check the list to see if your name is on the
list!  Come to the Career Center if you have questions about Senior Awards Night.

Graduating Seniors- If you have not requested your cap and gown, please see Mrs. Perez in the office.  For any questions
relating to Graduation, please see Mrs. Perez in the office.

Don't forget to request your FINAL TRANSCRIPT to be sent to the college you will be attending. Bring in a stamped
addressed envelope to the Transcript Counter and follow the posted instructions. If your common application college is
requesting submission of a final report, you need to make a request at the transcript counter.  A stamped, addressed
envelope is not needed.

Don't forget to fill out a PERMANENT ADDRESS CARD if you haven't already. Turn in completed cards to the Front Desk
or Counseling Office.

ACADEMICS/COLLEGE: COLLEGE NIGHT will be June 5, Thursday at 7:00 pm in the IPAB.  This program is for JUNIORS and
their parents.

CLUBS/EVENTS:  There will be a taco bar in the quad on Friday, 5/30/14 at lunchtime.  Buy your plate in the cafeteria and
get your food at the Taco Bar outside.  Full pay - $3.50, Reduced Pay - .40¢ and Free - 0.

If you want to learn about scholarships, financial aid, how to create a resume and how to be successful in college and
your career, you should attend the Job Fair and Success Camp on June 16 from 11:00 - 3:00 at the Yolo County One Stop
Career Center in Woodland. The event is sponsored by Congressman John Garamendi.  The job fair is free but you must
sign up ahead of time.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

The NHS meeting will be held on Monday, June 2 at lunchtime.  This is the last meeting of the year.  Make sure to come
if you need more  meetings!

The annual DHS Orchestra Concerto Competition traditionally held in January is being moved next year to the month of
November. It will take place Wednesday, November 19th 2014 at 7:00pm on stage in the DHS Brunelle Performance
Hall. It is open to all DHS instrumentalist. The winner of this competition will be given the honor of performing with the
DHS Symphony Orchestra at the Mondavi  Center in Jackson Hall at the Wennberg Music Festival on Saturday, February
14, 2015 at 2:30pm as well as a check for $300.00.  A sign-up sheet and informational flyer will be posted in early
September on the window of the computer lab in PA-3. It is important to start to plan for this event now and begin
preparing at the start of the school year or even during summer.  Email Mr. Moreno if you have questions at

The Davis Homeless Shelter needs your help!  Items needed:  Soap, shampoo, lotion, canned food.  There is a drop-off
bin for donations inside the Front Office.  Thank you for your help!

GRAD NIGHT 2014: Seniors! Grad night tickets are available online at davisgradnight.org or you can download the form
and mail it in with a check.   If you are not sure if you have already bought your ticket, check the list at the Front Desk.
Tickets are now $90 and cover all Grad night activities, food/drinks and prizes!  Prices will increase in June and
scholarship tickets are available through the Counseling Office.

Attention Parents of All Students (regardless of grade)! We need Parent Volunteers for Grad Night We need decorators,
check-helpers, event monitors, poker and black jack dealers, raffle workers, café workers and security assistants. If you
have a truck, mini-van or SUV, we also need help transporting supplies to Grad Night.  Please sign up at
