THIS DAY IN HISTORY:  1899 - Jacob German of New York City became the first driver to be arrested for
speeding. The posted speed limit was 12 miles per hour.

SAVE THE DATE! Sports Physical Clinic at Sutter Family Medicine, 2030 Sutter Place, Davis - Saturday,
June 7, 8:30-11:30 am - $20. Donation benefits DHS Athletics Dept.   Athletes, grades 7-12 are
encouraged to complete their sports physicals this spring to be ready for the 2014-15 school year.

TODAY:  Come to T-3 today at lunch for the last Chinese Club meeting at lunch for the last Chinese Club
meeting of this year!  We will be watching a Chinese movie with English subtitles.

YEARBOOKS are arriving soon!  Pick yours up in the South Gym at the following times:  Juniors - Tuesday,
May 20th at 2:30; Sophomores - Wednesday, may 21st at 2:30 and make-up at 12:15 on Thursday, May
22nd.
Graduating Seniors- If you have not requested your cap and gown, please see Mrs. Perez in the office.

SENIORS:  What rhymes with wiener penship cray?  Senior Friendship Day! There will be a senior
Friendship Day this Thursday, May 22nd, during 3rd and 5th periods.  Come to the stadium after 1st
period.  Be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen and wear clothing you can run in!  Holla for a
dolla Honey Boo Boo Child!

SENIOR Workshop: "Everything you want to know about the first 6 weeks of college." To learn about the
danger signs of substance usage in college, come to the Career Center on   May 21 (Wednesday) during
lunchtime.  The UCD Alcohol/tobacco/& other drug intervention services coordinator and UCD students
will present.

SENIORS:  Have you received any scholarships or awards not administered by the Career Center, such as
scholarships from colleges or outside organizations?  If so, come to the Career Center and sign the
"Outside Award" list.  These awards will be announced at Senior Awards Night on Tuesday, June 3 at
6:00 p.m. in the theater.

Seniors!  If you ordered graduation announcements, shirts or sweatshirts and haven't yet picked them
up, come to the Career Center this week to get them!

Sing at graduation by joining the Senior Choir!  We will be singing "Five for Fightings' 100 Years.   The
group will be led by Mr. Zinn.  Rehearsals will be held at lunch on Thursdays in Room PA8.  Pick up sheet
music in PA8 or from the counter by the Front Desk!

Don't forget to request your FINAL TRANSCRIPT to be sent to the college you will be attending. Bring in a
stamped addressed envelope to the Transcript Counter and follow the posted instructions. If your
common application college is requesting submission of a final report- you will need to make a request
at the transcript counter. Stamped addressed envelope is not needed.
Don't forget to fill out a PERMANENT ADDRESS CARD if you haven't already. Turn in completed cards to
the Front Desk or Counseling Office.

ACADEMICS/COLLEGE INFO:   Davis High AVID Awards are here!  Please come to the library to recognize
our outstanding AVID students, Thursday, May 22nd at 7pm in conjunction with the Renaissance
Awards.  All students and their family members are invited, including of course, current and former AVID
students.  There will be refreshments!

MISCELLANEOUS:  JOB OPPORTUNITY:  Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District has a temporary
one-year clerical position available in their Davis office.  Duties include general clerical duties, hours are
Monday-Friday 2-5, pay is $11.87 per hour.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

CLUBS/EVENTS:  Car fanatics, you're in luck. The application deadline for this year's Devil Day car show
has been extended to Friday, May 23rd. The show is May 28th on the quad. Pick up and return your
application to O-3 or the front office.  Don't wait!

Robots!  Interested in electronics, engineering, robotics, programming, business, media or design?
Come to the Citrus Circuit recruitment meeting this Wednesday, May 21st from 3:45 to 6:00 pm at Da
Vinci High School, Room 19.  See you there!

Hey Key Clubbers!  We have a meeting on Wednesday, May 21st at lunch in S-12.  Be sure to come for
new projects and food!  See you there!

GRAD NIGHT 2014: Seniors! Grad night tickets are available online at davisgradnight.org or you can
download the form and mail it in with a check.   If you are not sure if you have already bought your
ticket, check the list at the Front Desk.  Tickets are now $90 and cover all Grad night activities,
food/drinks and prizes!  Prices will increase in June and scholarship tickets are available through the
Counseling Office.

Attention Parents of All Students (regardless of grade)! We need Parent Volunteers for Grad Night We
need decorators, check-helpers, event monitors, poker and black jack dealers, raffle workers, café
workers and security assistants. If you have a truck, mini-van or SUV, we also need help transporting
supplies to Grad Night.  Please sign up at http://www.davisgradnight.org/volunteers!
