THIS DAY IN HISTORY:    1975 - Japanese climber Junko Tabei became the first woman to reach the
summit of Mount Everest.

SAVE THE DATE! Sports Physical Clinic at Sutter Family Medicine, 2030 Sutter Place, Davis - Saturday,
June 7, 8:30-11:30 am - $20. Donation benefits DHS Athletics Dept.   Athletes, grades 7-12 are
encouraged to complete their sports physicals this spring to be ready for the 2014-15 school year.

Graduating Seniors- If you have not requested your cap and gown, please see Mrs. Perez in the office.
Graduation ceremony tickets are on sale through the 16th of May.  Tickets may be purchased online
through the DSHS Webstore, or in person during lunch only, at the Finance office window.   For any
questions relating to Graduation please see Mrs. Perez in the office.

Are you helpful?  Join Link Crew for 2014-2015 year!  Applications are available in the Finance Office and
are due today, Friday, May 16th in the Finance Office.

DSHS Students, Staff and Parents!    Please nominate a teacher you think is most deserving of the honor
of Rotarian Teacher of the Year for the 2013-2014 School Year.  Nomination forms are available at the
front desk in the Administration building. Please complete and return your nomination form with a
description/explanation of your nominee to Kate Prien, Site Secretary, no later than noon on Friday,
May 16, 2014. The finalist will receive the Rotarian Teacher of The Year Award at the Senior Awards
Ceremony scheduled for June 3rd.

SENIORS: Senior Ball pictures are in and at the Front Desk!  Please have your ID to pick them up!

Seniors!  If you ordered graduation announcements, shirts or sweatshirts and haven't yet picked them
up, come to the Career Center this week to get them!

Sing at graduation by joining the Senior Choir!  We will be singing "Five for Fightings' 100 Years.   The
group will be led by Mr. Zinn.  Rehearsals will be held at lunch on Thursdays in Room PA8.  Pick up sheet
music in PA8 or from the counter by the Front Desk!
Don't forget to request your FINAL TRANSCRIPT to be sent to the college you will be attending. Bring in a
stamped addressed envelope to the Transcript Counter and follow the posted instructions. If your
common application college is requesting submission of a final report- you will need to make a request
at the transcript counter. Stamped addressed envelope is not needed

Don't forget to fill out a PERMANENT ADDRESS CARD if you haven't already. Turn in completed cards to
the Front Desk or Counseling Office.

ACADEMICS/COLLEGE INFO:   Congratulations to this year's DHS National Science League competitors.
The results of the competition this year show the DHS biology team scoring 7th place in the country,
while the physics team took 4th place, and the chemistry team earned 3rd place honors nationally.
Special kudos to Megan Yamoah, who was one of 6 students in the nation to earn an individual national
championship with a perfect score in the physics competition!

SENIOR Workshop: "Everything you want to know about the first 6 weeks of college." To learn about the
danger signs of substance usage in college, come to the Career Center on May 21 (Wednesday) during
lunchtime.  The UCD Alcohol/tobacco/& other drug intervention services coordinator and UCD students
will present.

GRAD NIGHT 2014: Seniors! Grad night tickets are available online at davisgradnight.org or you can
download the form and mail it in with a check.   If you are not sure if you have already bought your
ticket, check the list at the Front Desk.  Tickets are now $90 and cover all Grad night activities,
food/drinks and prizes!  Prices will increase in June and scholarship tickets are available through the
Counseling Office.

Attention Parents of All Students (regardless of grade)! We need Parent Volunteers for Grad Night We
need decorators, check-helpers, event monitors, poker and black jack dealers, raffle workers, café
workers and security assistants. If you have a truck, mini-van or SUV, we also need help transporting
supplies to Grad Night.  Please sign up at http://www.davisgradnight.org/volunteers!

Grad Night Donations of food, drinks, prizes and other items needed!  For a list of specific items, please
