Egypt.

March is Women's History Month:   Today in 1970, Queen Latifah was born.  She is a singer-songwriter
and actress.

TODAY:  THE CAREER CENTER'S ANNUAL SUMMER ACTIVITIES AND SCHOLARSHIP FAIR!!!  If you're
looking for something to do this summer, need a job, or need extra money for college, you won't want
to miss it.  The fair will feature job and scholarship applications, and information about volunteering and
summer activities.  The fair will take place outside the Career Center today, Tuesday, March 18 at lunch.
See you there!

Attention graduating class of 2014!!! Have you ordered your cap, gown, and tassel?  It's not too late;
there is still time to place your order.  The Herff-Jones representative will be here today, Tuesday, March
18 on the quad at lunchtime.  Please see Mrs. Perez in the Administration office for any questions or

SENIORS:  Are you interested in speaking at your graduation ceremony?  If yes, pick up an application
form from Vice Principal McHale in the office this week.
A local scholarship deadline has been extended!  The Davis Chinese Association Scholarship is for seniors
of Chinese descent who have demonstrated academic excellence and participated in school and
community activities.  Come to the Career Center for an application.  The new deadline is Friday, March
21st.

Seniors, it's that time you have all been waiting for! Senior Ball is here!  Ticket sales begin April 8th with
prices starting at $60. with ASB and $70 without ASB.  Prices will increase weekly!  Tickets are available
at lunch at the Finance Office window from April 8th to April 25th.  If you have financial needs regarding
Senior Ball tickets, please talk to your counselor.

Your senior class photo will be taken during 5th period on Thursday, March 20th.  Report to the North
Gym by 11:45 and make sure to leave your belongings in your classroom.

Excited to graduate?  Get even more excited! We have Class of 2014 lanyards for only $5.00!  You can
buy them on your way to the Veteran's parking lot every Wednesday at lunch!

ACADEMICS/COLLEGE INFO:   Are you an English learner looking to improve your school?  The next ELAC
is April 1st, after break.  Ask your English teacher or visit Mr. Vasquez in L-10 to find out how you can
help improve the DHS experience for all students learning English.

JUNIORS/SOPHOMORES - Want to learn why California community colleges and public universities are
an excellent first choice for many high school students?  Dr. John Chuck will present - GOING RETRO:
March 20, 7:00 pm IPAB  -- Learn how to graduate from college with little to no debt.

What makes you tick? How does the human brain work?  Why do you enjoy staying home on Friday
nights while your best friend wants to go to parties?  Learn the answers to these and other exciting
questions by taking PSYCHOLOGY next year!  Talk to Ms. Istas in L-29 or Ms. Christiansen in N-1 for more
information.

Don't miss out on a chance to make a difference!  The pen is mightier than the sword, so drop that
sword, take that pen and sign up for Journalism 1!

CLUBS/EVENTS:  This Friday is Eastpitch Friday!   Come support the Varsity Softball team this Friday at
4:15; you could win an IPAD mini!  See you at the field!

Miley Cyrus once said "If there were more Friendship Day facilitators, the world would be a better
place."  Just kidding!  All she said was "twerk."  But if she did say that, she would tell you to pick up your
facilitator forms in the office and turn them in by March 21st.

Students and Staff:  Take a minute to stroll through the main office to view the fabulous Self-Portraits
produced by this year's AP Drawing and Painting students!  5 of these pieces will be selected to
represent Davis High at the Annual High School Self-Portrait show at the Crocker Art Museum in
Sacramento!

Music on the Quad hosted by the Black Student Union on Wednesday, March 19th at lunchtime!  There
will be performances, face painting and a raffle to win prizes!  See you there!

GRAD NIGHT:  Seniors!  Don't forget that ticket prices will go up if you wait until June to purchase your
ticket! Please go to davisgradnight.org and either purchase the ticket online or download the ticket form
and mail in with your check.  Don't forget to send a kindergarten picture of yourself (with a self-
addressed, stamped envelope for return) for the "Kinder Wall."  Scanned pictures of good quality are
OK!  Don't wait until the ticket price goes up!
