March is Women's History Month:  Born this day in 1833, Lucy Hobbs Taylor was the first woman in the
US to be granted a dentistry degree in 1866 and was a women's rights advocate.

TODAY:  The Gay-Straight Alliance will meet today, Friday @ lunch in Mr. Wheeler's classroom, L-28.
Take action against slurs, harassment and discrimination in your school.

Are you interested in learning more about the United States Army?  If so, come to the Career Center,
today, Friday March 14 at lunch to speak to an Army representative.

Senior Boys!  The deadline to apply for Mr. Blue Devil has been extended to today, Friday, March 14th.
Please pick up an application and turn it in by Friday!

SENIORS:  Your senior class photo will be taken during 5th period on Thursday, March 20th.  Report to
the North Gym by 11:45 and make sure to leave your belongings in your classroom.

Attention graduating class of 2014!!! Have you ordered your cap, gown, and tassel?  It's not too late;
there is still time to place your order.  The Herff-Jones representative will be here on Tuesday, March 18
on the quad at lunchtime.  Please see Mrs. Perez in the Administration office for any questions or email:

ACADEMICS/COLLEGE INFO:   JUNIORS/SOPHOMORES - Want to learn why California community
colleges and public universities are an excellent first choice for many high school students?  Dr. John
Chuck will present - GOING RETRO: March 20, 7:00 pm IPAB  -- Learn how to graduate from college with
little to no debt.

What makes you tick? How does the human brain work?  Why do you enjoy staying home on Friday
nights while your best friend wants to go to parties?  Learn the answers to these and other exciting
questions by taking PSYCHOLOGY next year!  Talk to Ms. Istas in L-29 or Ms. Christiansen in N-1 for more
information.

COMING NEXT WEEK -- THE CAREER CENTER'S ANNUAL SUMMER ACTIVITIES AND SCHOLARSHIP FAIR!!!
If you're looking for something to do this summer, need a job, or need extra money for college, you
won't want to miss it.  The fair will feature job and scholarship applications, and information about
volunteering and summer activities.  The fair will take place outside the Career Center on Tuesday,
March 18 at lunch. See you there!

Don't miss out on a chance to make a difference!  The pen is mightier than the sword, so drop that
sword take that pen and sign up for Journalism 1!
CLUBS/EVENTS:  Come to the French Club in O-4 on Tuesdays at lunchtime to participate in club
activities and enjoy a fun atmosphere!

Why'd the superhero cross the road? To apply to be a Friendship Day facilitator! Go be a superhero and
apply for Friendship Day!  Applications are due Friday, March 21 and you can pick them in the office.

A special thanks to everyone who helped organize the Blood Drive on Tuesday.  We had a great turnout!
As for the results we registered 99 donors and collected 83 pints of life saving blood.  We also had 53
new donors come out to save a life, woo hoo!  Great job by the Blood Drive Crew in getting people
excited to save lives!

Students and Staff:  Take a minute to stroll through the main office to view the fabulous Self-Portraits
produced by this year's AP Drawing and Painting students!  5 of these pieces will be selected to
represent Davis High at the Annual High School Self-Portrait show at the Crocker Art Museum in
Sacramento!

2014 DHS Expressionfest is live!  Come check out the fantastic artwork this week in the library!  Films
will be playing in the West Conference room at lunch.

Music on the Quad hosted by the Black Student Union on Wednesday, March 19th at lunchtime!  There
will be performances, face painting and a raffle to win prizes!  See you there!

The DHS Drama Department invites you to our Spring Production:  "Graffitied Walls."  Performances will
be held on March 14th  and 15th at 7:00 pm and March 16th at 2:00 pm, at the Richard Brunelle
Performance Hall on the DSHS Campus.  This is an original piece, written by our cast providing an
authentic look at the challenges of high school.  Tickets are $14 General Admission, $12 for Seniors 60
and over and $10. for students.  Groups rates available in advance at dshsdrama at gmail.com.

very strong language and suggested drug/alcohol use.  The DSHS Drama Department is offering free, on-
site babysitting with the purchase of General Admission tickets on March 13th, 14th and 15th!

GRAD NIGHT:  Seniors!  Don't forget that ticket prices will go up if you wait until June to purchase your
ticket! Please go to davisgradnight.org and either purchase the ticket online or download the ticket form
and mail in with your check.  Don't forget to send a kindergarten picture of yourself (with a self-
addressed, stamped envelope for return) for the "Kinder Wall."  Scanned pictures of good quality are
OK!  Don't wait until the ticket price goes up!

The Davis Homeless Shelter Needs YOUR Help!  Throughout March, DHS is collecting items for the Davis
Homeless shelter.  ITEMS NEEDED:  SOAP  SHAMPOO  LOTION  CANNED FOOD  There is a drop off bin for
donations located inside the main office.   Check postings around school for more information.
