THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1944 - During World War II, U.S. heavy bombers began the first American raid on
Berlin. Allied planes dropped 2000 tons of bombs.
March is Women's History Month! On this day in 1832: The New England Anti-Slavery Society organized
in Boston, Massachusetts. Participation in this organization brought many women to conclude that
women, too, ought to have more rights.

SENIORS: Please return your Graduation Ceremony ticket request forms to the Front Desk as soon as
possible. They were due on Tuesday, February 25th. In order to properly plan for your graduation, it is
required that all graduates return their request form. Please see Mrs. Perez in the office with any
questions or email kperez at djusd.net.
Attention graduating class of 2014!!! Have you ordered your cap, gown, and tassel? It's not too late;
there is still time to place your order. All orders must be placed online, as this will ensure timely

ACADEMICS/COLLEGE INFO: Pass that AP Government class! Attend a seminar on Saturday, March 8th
on the U.S. Constitution. Pick up a flyer with more information from Room P-10 and see Mr. Reilly or
Ms. Swanstrom.
Attention AP students: Due to Articulation Schedule on Thursday, March 6th, in person AP sales will be
held at the Finance window at break and after school until 1:20 pm only! Must bring photo ID!
Remember, Friday March 7th is the last day!
It's College Tour time! The City of Davis is planning its annual So-Cal College Tour Trip for high school
students. Colleges on the tour are UC Santa Cruz, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, UC Santa Barbara, University
of Southern California and UCLA. The trip will take place the week of March 24th-27th. The cost is $495
which includes transportation, college tours, breakfast, dinner and hotels. Come to the Career Center
for more information.
Do you want to be a bystander in the game of life or do you want to write your own destiny? Make
history as a part of the DHS Yearbook team. Pick up an application in P-21 and submit by Friday, March
7th for your chance to roll with the lions.
CLUBS/EVENTS: This Fridayis our first CSF meeting of second semester. Come to Mrs. O'Brien's room,
P-13 at lunch to get a head start on your meetings and projects!
Hey Senior Boys! It's time for Mr. Blue Devil! If you want to compete for the title of Mr. Blue Devil, pick
up an application in C-4 and turn it in by Wednesday, March 11th!
The DHS Drama Department invites you to our Spring Production: "Graffitied Walls." Performances will
be held on March 13th, 14th, and 15th at 7:00 pm and March 16th at 2:00 pm, at the Richard Brunelle
Performance Hall on the DSHS Campus. This is an original piece, written by our cast providing an
authentic look at the challenges of high school. Tickets are $14 General Admission, $12 for Seniors 60
and over and $5 for students. Groups rates available in advance at dshsdrama at gmail.com. Questions?
Please email this address. Please be advised that "Graffitied Walls" contains adult content, very strong
language and suggested drug/alcohol use. The DSHS Drama Department is offering free, on-site
babysitting with the purchase of General Admission tickets on March 13th, 14th and 15th!
Our second blood drive of the year will take place, Tuesday, March 11. Giving blood takes
approximately one hour from start to finish and is safe and easy. To donate blood, you must be at least
16, weight at least 110 and be free from cold or flu symptoms for at least 48 hours. If interested, please
sign up on the quad at lunch this week or at the nurse's office by Monday, Mar. 10. Walk-ins are
accepted only if you are 18 or older. For more information, see Ms. Youtsey, the school nurse.
This is the last week to sign up for the Rotary Career Day, Saturday, March 8 from 8:30 am - noon, at
Giedt Hall on the UC Davis campus. Trade and business experts will discuss business etiquette,
teamwork, resume writing, interviewing skills, and using social media, career choices and job shadowing.
There will be prizes and pizza! Come to the Career Center this week to sign up!
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Volunteers are needed to help with children's activities at the Children's
Activity Fair this weekend in Community Park. To sign up, please email Grace Sauser at
gsauser at djusd.net or come to the Career Center.
GRAD NIGHT: Seniors! Don't forget that ticket prices will go up if you wait until June to purchase your
ticket! Please go to davisgradnight.org and either purchase the ticket online or download the ticket form
and mail in with your check. Don't forget to send a kindergarten picture of yourself (with a stamped
envelope for return) for the "Kinder Wall." Scanned pictures of good quality are OK! Don't wait until
the ticket price goes up!
