THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1912 - The first exhibition baseball game was held at Fenway Park in Boston. The
game was between the Red Sox and Harvard.

12 are encouraged to complete their sports physicals this spring to be ready for the 2014-15 school year.

2014 DHS Boys Lacrosse Break the Record Night is Friday, April 11. The Blue Devils will be taking on the
Jesuit Marauders. JV plays at 5:30 and the Varsity squad at 7:30. Admission is free and food will be
available by Cenario's Pizza, Jamba Juice, Outback Steakhouse and Thai Recipes. Grab a friend or family
member and come out to support Davis High Blue Devil Lacrosse!

Interested in playing Davis High Blue Devil Football this Fall? Parents and players should attend the
mandatory pre-season meeting on Tuesday, April 22 at 6pm in the DHS library. Meet the coaches and

TODAY:  What are you going to do to end the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
people?"  Participate in the Day of Silence this Friday.  The GSA will be on the Quad today to tell you all
about it.

There will be a Freedom From Hunger club meeting today,  Wednesday, April 9th, in Room L-21 at lunch.
There will be treats!

Nozima Kamalova, a human rights advocate from Uzbekistan, is coming to speak and answer questions
today, Wednesday, April 9th at the Feminism Club.  Please join us in O-2 at lunch to listen to this
amazing guest speaker!

Hey awesome ag kids!  The last monthly FFA meeting of the school year is tonight, Wednesday, April 9th
at 6:00 pm in room O-1A.  There will be pizza and we will vote for next year's chapter officers.  See you
all there!

Interested in a career in physical therapy or a related field?  Come to the Career Center today,
Wednesday, April 9 at lunchtime to hear David Harrington, a physical therapist from Kaiser, discuss
common sports injuries in teenagers and what to do about them.  Lunch will be provided! See you in the
Career Center Wednesday at lunch!

SENIORS: It's that time you have all been waiting for! Senior Ball is here!  Ticket prices start at $60. with
ASB and $70 without ASB.  Prices will increase weekly!  Tickets are on sale at lunchtime only at the
Finance Office window now until April 25th.  If you have financial needs regarding Senior Ball tickets,
please talk to your counselor.

Seniors!  Throughout the years, we've all had some great memories: We want you to share them with
us!  Bring in copies of your favorite photographs with your friends to be featured at Prom.  Boxes to
drop photos off will be in C-4 and the Front Office.
ACADEMICS/COLLEGE INFO:  College Night for Juniors and their parents is Tuesday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m.
starting in the IPAB.  At College Night you will learn about public and private colleges, universities,
community colleges, scholarships, financial aid, college entrance testing and more during breakout
sessions.  Join us on the 15th  to find out more about the process of applying to college!

Reminder: 11th graders will participate in the CAASPP Field Testing the week of April 21-25. We will
observe a Regular Schedule Day all week. No block days.

STAR letters went home to all applicable students last week. Please note: if you participated in the EAP
in March, you are required to participate in the remaining STAR testing on Wednesday, April 30th or
your score will be invalidated.

CLUBS/EVENTS:  The Guitar Club will not meet tomorrow, Thursday April 10th at lunchtime.

Come to the quad at lunchtime on Friday, April 11th for the second annual "Alternative to Soda" Day!
The Teen Health Awareness Club invites you to try our matching game to see if you know how much
sugar is in your favorite drink.  Free water bottles (for the first 30 students) and information about the
side effects of daily soda consumption and alternatives to soda will be available for all.

Get ready for the happiest week of your school year!  Week of Kindness is next week, April 14th - 18th.
We will have activities everyday on the quad at lunch.  Come enjoy a $5.00 burrito from Dos Coyotes.
Participate in the LEAD activity on Tuesday and  make sure to stop by the Balloon Release on
Wednesday.  Make a "free hugs" t-shirt on Thursday and take a look at the Friendship Day activity on
Friday!

Come out and support the students as they take on the teachers at the Students vs. Staff Basketball
Game.  The game will be held on April 17th in the old gym at 7:00 pm.  Sign-ups are in C-4 and end April
8th.  Any teachers wanting to apply must report to Mr. Peevyhouse.   If you come by, you might win a
prize if you participate in the half-time show!

The GSA will be on the Quad at lunch through Thursday, ready to discuss Friday's Day of Silence, enlist
participants, and distribute excellent buttons.

How would you like to attend a summer camp in the Silicon Valley to learn about humanities,
technology, and entrepreneurship?  Students at the camp will learn from professionals from Stanford,
Facebook, Google, Linkedin, Stitcher and more!  Come to the Career Center for more information.

MISCELLANEOUS: Interested in trying out for the award winning DHS Cheer Squad for the 2014-2015
school year? All interested participants and one parent/guardian must attend the mandatory Tryout
Information Night on:  Thursday, April 10th: 6 p.m., DHS Library ~ Tryouts will be held Friday, April 18th
beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the DHS Dance Room.  Please check in by 4 p.m.  Visit our website at

The Davis Homeless Shelter Needs Your Help!  Throughout April, DHS is collecting items for the Davis
Homeless Shelter.  Any free samples lying around the house, like shampoos?  Donate them!  Items
Needed: Soap, Shampoo, Lotion and Canned Food.  The drop-off bin for donations is inside the Front
Office.  Check postings around school for more information.

GRAD NIGHT:  Get your tickets, Seniors! Grad Night tickets on sale when Senior Ball tickets are being
sold beginning April 8 at lunchtime by the Finance Window.  Tickets also available online at
davisgradnight.org, or download the form and mail it in with a check.  If you aren't sure that you have
bought your ticket, the Front Desk has a list of names to check and see.  The ticket price is now $90.00
and covers all Grad night events, activities, food/drinks and prizes!  Prices go up in June!  Scholarship
tickets are available through the Counseling Office.

GRAD NIGHT DONATIONS!  Grad Night gladly accepts donations of food, drinks, prizes and other items -
we need it all and your help!  For a list of specific raffle prizes that our raffle team in hoping to away to

donate!   Also, please check http://www.davisgradnight.org/what-to-donate for a complete list of
needed items and how to be a sponsor.  The first drop-off day will be on 12-4:00 pm on Sunday, April
