In 1960, for the first time in U.S. history, a debate between major party presidential candidates is shown on television. The presidential hopefuls, John F. Kennedy, a Democratic senator of Massachusetts, and Richard M. Nixon, the vice president of the United States, met in a Chicago studio to discuss U.S. domestic matters.

Are you interesting in drawings THAT MOVE? Come to the Animation Club today in Mr. Fontaine's room (A7). The club meets every other Thursday at lunch to watch fun films, learn bios of famous animators and make your own animations. Snacks will be provided.


Are you interested in fun math competitions or helping out elementary kids with math for community service hours? Come to the Mu Alpha Theta club meeting today in Mr. Ronning's room (N-5) during lunch. See you there!



Hey Juniors: Our final float building meeting will be in P-21 at lunchtime tomorrow! Come and join us for some treats and to finalize our float design. See you there!



The National Honor Society is a high-achieving volunteer club that is recognized among colleges throughout the nation! So come and sign up outside S-12 during lunch. Tomorrow is the last day! Remember to bring your "hours" sheet if you are a returning member.



Want to display a message on the DHS Marquee? Pick up a request form in C-4 and turn it in to the finance office. Messages run for a minimum of 2 days and are only $20.00! Come pick up your form!


The City of Davis is offering their annual fall tour of four northern California universities!   The first tour is UC Berkeley this Saturday, September 28.  Additional tours are scheduled for Stanford, Chico State and CSU San Francisco.  Trips are $67 and include transportation, college tour, and lunch. This is the last week to register for CSF! Bring your $5, grades and pink sheet to Mrs. O'Brien's room (P-13). Come soon to avoid the line!

Are you listening?  The Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) meets tomorrow at lunch in L-28, Mr. Wheeler's classroom.  Get involved.

Come to the Environmental Club meeting tomorrow in S-10. We will be doing a bike count, talking about the homecoming parade and stuffing bottles. Make sure to stop by!



PSAT sign-ups are available via the web-store now through October 4th for Juniors. In person signs are 10/7-11 at lunch. Sophomores will be able to sign up online or in person October 7-11. The cost is $24.00. If you feel this is a financial hardship, please contact your counselor immediately. Bring your receipt to the Testing Coordinator to pick up your Student bulletin with lots of information and sample questions!


Spring break trip to Washington DC:  Informational meeting on October 2 (Wednesday) during lunchtime in Mr. Williams classroom, P14.  The trip incudes tours of: Smithsonian museums, Monticello, Lincoln Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Holocaust Museum, Capital Hill, and much more.

JUNIORS seeking a cultural experience abroad are invited to attend a lunchtime meeting on Friday, October 4 in room O6.  Global Glimpse Ambassadors will share their experience in Nicaragua where they learned about the cultural, political environment, and returned as global citizens.
