DHS Winter Athletes: Sports Physical Paperwork Nights will be held on Wednesday, November 6 & Thursday, November 7 from 6-8pm in the DHS North Gym lobby. Turn in your completed paperwork to receive your athletic clearance card for the first day of tryouts.

DHS Fall Athletes: if you plan to participate in a winter sport, stop by the Athletic Office to pick up a new copy of your athletic clearance card for the first day of winter tryouts. Also, available at the Sports Physical Paperwork Nights.



TODAY:

Animation Club members! Due to the cancelled meeting last week, there will be another meeting today at lunch in Mr. Fontaine's room (A-7). We'll be talking about our yearbook photo!!



SENIORS applying to private colleges:  TODAY, October 31 is the deadline for requesting Letters of Recommendations from teachers and counselors.



Washington DC spring break trip:  TODAY, October 31 is the deadline for signing up for this trip.  Questions? Contact Mr. Kevin Williams or Courtenay Tessler.



NEW/ONGOING/UPCOMING:

November SAT is this Saturday, November 2. Arrive to N4 at 7:30am to get your room assignment. Test begins promptly at 8am- NO late entry. Must have registration ticket and photo ID to enter. NO EXCEPTIONS!!



Friday's Lunchtime BBQ is a regular service, general student cost is $3.50 and free and reduced terms apply, as appropriate. Purchase can be made at the Snack Bar or Cafeteria "Servery". Questions? Ask Renee, Kitchen Manager.



Do you like music from around the world? If so, come to the World Music Club this week in Mr. Williams' Room P-14.



Clubs: Yearbook photo forms are due tomorrow, Nov. 1! Pick-up a form in P-21 or your club will not have a photo in this year's book!



Have a cool and unique talent? Pick up an application to perform in the DHS Factor talent show. Applications are available in C-4 today and are due tomorrow.



The DHS Climate Committee will meet tomorrow at lunch in N-2. Please join us to discuss ways to make DHS a more welcoming school for everyone.



CSF meeting to sign up for some new projects is tomorrow in P-13 (Ms. O'Brien's room) during lunch.



On Monday, November 4th in the DHS Career Center, Dr. Randall Lee who is a Gastroenterologist with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and an Associate Clinical Professor at UC Davis School of Medicine will discuss "Abdominal Moans and Groans: common reasons for stomach pains in teenagers." Come hear D. Lee speak about this topic and his career as a clinician and as a medical school teacher. Snacks will be served.



DHS Drama presents their fall musical, "Pippin" November 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, at 7pm and November 10th at 2pm. Tickets are available on the DHS webstore for $8.00 students (presale) and $10 at the door. All teachers and staff get a 2 for 1 discount. Join us for a night of music, dancing, laughs and a grand finale you won't want to miss!



SENIORS: submit your senior yearbook quote now! Log on to School Loop and send a "Loop Mail" to "ybook quotes." Quotes must be less than 20 words, school appropriate and must cite the author.



The City of Davis' final college tour is CSU San Francisco this Saturday, November 2.  The cost is $67 and includes transportation, college tour, and lunch.  Go online to www.davisteenscene.org or come to the Career Center in for more information.



Tickets for the 2014 Davis Grad Night Celebration are now available for purchase online through the Davis Grad Night website at http://groups.dcn.org/davisgradnight/tickets. Don't forget to purchase a ticket for your graduating senior -- prices are $75.00 through December 31, 2013 -- then the price goes up to $90.00.  Remember, scholarship tickets are also available through school counselors.



Blue Devil Sweats and Sweatshirts are on sale NOW. Hooded Sweatshirts are available in Royal Blue, Grey, and Navy Blue and the cost is $20.  Sweatpants are available in Royal Blue only, and the cost is $15.  Pay at the Finance Office all week during lunch and bring your receipt to PE.



Seniors! It's that time of year again! Rent-a-Senior is just around the corner. Applications are now available in C-4 and are due by November 15th!



Girls who volunteer may apply for grant: Girls ages 14 to 17 who volunteer in their community or school are eligible to apply for the Violet Richardson Award, an annual $1,000 grant given by Soroptimist International of Davis. It's what you do that counts: * Are your activities conducted on a volunteer basis? * Are you caring, compassionate, creative and committed to making the world a better place? * Have you demonstrated initiative in identifying a specific problem and trying to solve it? * Have you had a significant and noteworthy accomplishment as a volunteer? If you can answer yes to these questions and would like to apply, download an application from the SI Davis website. Go to http://www.sidavis.org/awards, and download the Violet Richardson Application pdf. Priority goes to girls whose work focuses on a specific project.
