THIS DAY IN HISTORY:

In 1967, 100,000 demonstrators from various groups peacefully convened at the Lincoln Memorial to protest the Vietnam War. After the rally, a group marched toward the Pentagon and violence erupted when the more radical element of the demonstrators clashed with the soldiers and U.S. Marshals protecting the Pentagon.

The German Club meets today at lunch in N-2. Come, there will be cake!



Seniors: we are excited that Herff Jones will be partnering with Davis Senior High School for graduation this year and wish to invite you to a Parent/Senior Grad Fair tonight from 5-7:30pm in the library on campus! You may come anytime during this ordering event. Every senior should have received information regarding caps and gowns, class ring and senior 2014 announcement packages. If you do not, please see your Economics or Government teacher or come to the office. Herff Jones will also be available to take orders during lunch on October 29! You can order online beginning next week also (see link below). If you have questions, please don't hesitate to call. Herff Jones at 530-676-1827!



If you purchased pictures, your packets are in the Career Center. Come pick them up! They will NOT be delivered to you!



NEW/ONGOING/UPCOMING:

Hey DSHS! Halloween is around the corner so make sure you purchase a BOO treat, ak.a. Halloween Grams to send to a friend, faculty member and/or your significant other. The Black Student Union will be selling them for $2.00 on the quad starting Wednesday, October 23rd.



An exchange with a German school is planned for the spring and summer of 2014. If you are interested, please come to see Mrs. Floyd, N-2. You do not need to speak German to participate.



College visits continue throughout October!  Go to Naviance or come to the Career Center to see the list of college visits.  Upcoming college visits include Cal Poly, Willamette, Oregon State, Scripps, and more!


Play Rugby!   Boys' Rugby is back at Davis High School for its second season.  No one is too big or too small to play, and no experience is necessary.  Come hear more at an introductory meeting for parents and 9th-12th grade players on Thursday, November 7 from 7:00 p m to 8:00 pm in the DHS Library. Interested in being on the DHS Wrestling Team? A player/parent information night will be held Wednesday, October 22 at 6:30pm in DHS Room N-08. Questions contact Coach Ty Brown at tbrown at djusd.net



Seniors! Senior ad deadlines are approaching - the 1st one is Friday for 1/8 of a page. Have your parents order online at dhsyearbook.com or pick up a form in Mr. Achimore's room P-21.



Clubs! If you want your club photo in the yearbook, pick up a form in P-21 to sign-up for a time. Turn in your form by November 1st and its first come, first served, so don't wait!



CABIN LEADER'S are needed for North Davis Elementary School's trip to Walker Creek on January 6-10. Cabin leaders must work well with children, and have an outgoing personality with an enthusiasm for the outdoors. Applications are available in the Career Center and must be submitted to North Davis by November 6.



The DHS Language Tutors Club will be accepting tutor applications, which are available in language classrooms throughout the year. Turn in applications in room N-2. Remember, tutoring hours count as community service hours.



Do you want your own dog? Rabbit? Or cat? Come to the Chinese Club in T-3 on Tuesday, 10/22 to cut out your own animals and patterns. We have egg rolls!



DHS Student Leaders of clubs, booster groups, ASB: Friday, October 25, is the deadline for submitting information and articles for the November 2013 DHS PTA newsletter. Please send news, announcements, etc. to the DHS PTA Media Listserv at DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org and include your name and a parent or faculty name and contact information (e-mail address and phone number) in case the newsletter editor has questions about your submission. Also, please be sure to include a teacher or parent contact and his/her phone number or e-mail address. The newsletter is generally available around the 1st of each month. This is a great way to inform, notify or enlist parents' help for upcoming DHS school and student activities.
