THIS DAY IN HISTORY:

In 1845, the United States Naval Academy opens in Annapolis, Maryland, with 50 midshipmen students and seven professors. 5 years later the Naval School officially became the U.S. Naval Academy and a new curriculum went into effect, requiring midshipmen to study at the academy for four years and to train aboard ships each summer--the basic format that remains at the academy to this day.

PSAT is Saturday, 10/19!! TODAY is the last day for in-person sales at lunch only at the Testing Coordinator's desk. Tests will be sold online to 10th and 11th graders through tomorrow 10/11. Visit dshs.djusd.net and click the Pay Online tab!!  $24.00, no refunds. If you feel this is a financial hardship, please contact your counselor immediately.



Hey fellow cartoonists, artist and animators! Come to the Animation club meetings tomorrow 10/10 to meet fellow animators, watch short films and talk about a possible project to make your own animations. Hope to see you there!



Seniors:  Need assistance with the college selection and application process?  Counselors will be available in the Career Center to answer your questions on the following dates:  TODAY, 10/15 and 10/16.

NEW/ONGOING/UPCOMING:

Hey Blue Devils! If you received an invitation to Friendship Day on October 18th, be sure to turn in your permission slip to the Front Office as soon as possible. The deadline to turn in your form is Thursday, October 17th. Don't miss out on this awesome opportunity! Turn in your forms and we'll see you at Friendship day!



Get pumped for the Homecoming Parade! It starts at C Street downtown (across from Yolo Berry) and makes its way all the way back to the high school! Start time is 1:15pm, so get your bad self to the parade!



The City of Davis is offering their annual fall tour of northern California universities!  The next tour is Stanford University on Saturday, October 12.  Additional tours are scheduled for Chico State and San Francisco State.  Trips are $67 and include transportation, college tour, and lunch. DHS finally has an Art Club! We meet at lunch on Mondays in A-1 to work on individual or collaborative art projects and share creative ideas. All are welcome!



Korematsu Elementary still needs high school boys and girls to be cabin leaders at Walker Creek camp for the week of December 2-6. The deadline to submit applications has been extended to Wednesday, October 17.  Come to the Career Center for an application.
