THIS DAY IN HISTORY:

In 1985, actor Rock Hudson, 59, becomes the first major U.S. celebrity to die of complications from AIDS. Hudson was a close friend of President Ronald Reagan and his death raised public awareness of the epidemic, which until that time had been ignored by many. The news that Hudson, an international icon, had AIDS focused worldwide attention on the disease and helped change public perceptions of it.

Spring break trip to Washington DC:  Informational meeting today during lunchtime in Mr. Williams classroom, P14.  The trip incudes tours of: Smithsonian museums, Monticello, Lincoln Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Holocaust Museum, Capital Hill, and much more.



Interested in Architecture or Engineering? Join the Architecture & Engineering Club located in the Career Center during lunch today.



Feminism means equality for all. Come to the 1st meeting of the DHS Feminist Club today at lunch in O-1 (the old cafeteria). All genders welcome.



ONGOING/UPCOMING:

Senior students and their parents are invited to attend a brief, but informative presentation from the Admissions and Outreach office from Sacramento State University on Thursday, 10/3 at 7-815pm. The application process for the entire CSU system will be highlighted and you will have an opportunity to ask questions. We look forward to seeing there.



Are you interested in learning more about the United States Navy?  If so, come to the Career Center tomorrow, October 3 at lunch to speak to a Navy representative.



The GSA will meet Friday @ lunch in L-28.  Get involved.  Elections will be held!



This Friday is the 1st CSF Meeting of the year. Come to Mrs. O'Brien's room P-13 at lunch to learn more about the club and a variety of community service projects. See you there!



JUNIORS seeking a cultural experience abroad are invited to attend a lunchtime meeting on Friday, October 4 in room O6.  Global Glimpse Ambassadors will share their experience in Nicaragua where they learned about the cultural, political environment, and returned as global citizens.



Do you like music from around the World? Do you enjoy discovering new artists and songs that aren't in the top 40? If so, come to the World Music Club Fridays in Mr. Oster's room (P-22). We listen to everything from KPOP to Malian Soul Music and your input is welcome. We have cookies!



Juniors: Friday is the last day for priority PSAT sign-ups online through the webstore. On Monday, Sophomores may purchase online and in-person sign-ups for BOTH grades are available at the Testing Coordinators desk. Cost is $24.00. Contact your counselor immediately for more information or if this may be a financial hardship. Student Bulletins are available anytime, with receipt, from the Testing Coordinator.



Are you interested in being a Walker Creek CABIN LEADER?  If so, cabin leaders are needed for Montgomery Elementary school.  Please come to the Career Center for an application.



Looking for some hard-hitting action this Friday night? Come support DHS Field Hockey at the 2nd Annual "Stick It 2 Cancer" game this Friday, October 4 vs Chico. Game times are 5:30-JV & 7:00-Varsity. All proceeds will be donated to cancer research. This will also be the program's first-ever Break the Record Night!  Let's show the Chico Panthers that Davis is Field Hockey Country!



Attention all students: Come out and support the Davis High Girls Volleyball program for their first BREAK THE RECORD NIGHT!  Let's fill the gym and make some noise in support of our fellow blue devil volleyball players!  This Thursday vs. Franklin.  JV starts at 5pm.  See you there, WEAR BLUE!



The DHS Language Tutors Club is looking for qualified tutors in all languages, including English. Applications can be found in language classrooms or in room N-2. Tutoring hours count as community service hours.
