THIS DAY IN HISTORY:  Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt is reelected president of the United States for a record third time, and becoming the first and only president in history to win a fourth term in office. Roosevelt's unparalleled 13 years as president led to the passing of the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which limited future presidents to a maximum of two consecutive elected terms in office.

DHS Winter Athletes: Sports Physical Paperwork Night is tonight from 6-8pm in the DHS North Gym lobby. Turn in your completed paperwork to receive your athletic clearance card for the first day of tryouts.

DHS Fall Athletes: if you plan to participate in a winter sport, stop by the Athletic Office to pick up a new copy of your athletic clearance card for the first day of winter tryouts. Also, available at the Sports Physical Paperwork Nights.

Boys' Rugby Club is back at DHS for its second season. Come hear more at an informational meeting for parents and 9th-12th grade players tonight at 7:00pm in the DHS Library. Contact Head Coach Andy Malpass, at andy at aj-construction.com with questions.



DHS Unicyclers! Our last meeting was great - many were able to begin unicycling. We want to teach even more students, so stop by N4 today at lunch to join this DHS Blue Devils Unicycling Club. An important note: today the yearbook photo will be taken - please join us for the photo!

NEW/ONGOING/UPCOMING:

Baseline Concussion Testing for DHS Winter Athletes: new sessions have been added for Tuesday, 11/12 at 4:00, 5:00 or 6:00. Sign up on the DHS website athletic page at http://dshs.djusd.net


Hi all...Winter ILS applications are now available in the front office, to the left, on the counter, in 2 trays.  One tray has the applications, and the other tray is for the student to turn in the application once they have made your roster.  Completed applications are due in that turn-in tray by the end of the day, November 18th.  Pass this info on to your athletes

The Singing Song-Writerz Club is meeting every Wednesday at lunch in room L-20, so come make some music. It will be awesome!


Are you interested in learning about the United States Marines?  If so, come to the Career Center at lunch on Friday, November 8 to meet with a Marine representative.

The Gay Straight Alliance will meet at lunch tomorrow in L-28, Mr. Wheeler's classroom, above the library.  Be part of it.



This Friday, November 8th, Latinos Unidos yearbook pictures will be taken. 12:15 in front of the IPAB. Wear white!



DHS Drama presents their fall musical, "Pippin" November 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, at 7pm and November 10th at 2pm. Tickets are available on the DHS webstore for $8.00 students (presale) and $10 at the door. All teachers and staff get a 2 for 1 discount. Join us for a night of music, dancing, laughs and a grand finale you won't want to miss!



SENIORS: submit your senior yearbook quote now! Log on to School Loop and send a "Loop Mail" to "ybook quotes." Quotes must be less than 20 words, school appropriate and must cite the author.



Tickets for the 2014 Davis Grad Night Celebration are now available for purchase online through the Davis Grad Night website at http://groups.dcn.org/davisgradnight/tickets. Don't forget to purchase a ticket for your graduating senior -- prices are $75.00 through December 31, 2013 -- then the price goes up to $90.00.  Remember, scholarship tickets are also available through school counselors.



Seniors! It's that time of year again! Rent-a-Senior is just around the corner. Applications are now available in C-4 and are due by November 15th!



Girls who volunteer may apply for grant: Girls ages 14 to 17 who volunteer in their community or school are eligible to apply for the Violet Richardson Award, an annual $1,000 grant given by Soroptimist International of Davis. Go to http://www.sidavis.org/awards, or contact Wendy Weitzel at wendyedit at gmail.com. The deadline is Dec. 1.
