ATHLETICS:
DHS Winter Athletes: Sports Physical Paperwork Nights will be held this Wednesday, November 6 & Thursday, November 7 from 6-8pm in the DHS North Gym lobby. Turn in your completed paperwork to receive your athletic clearance card for the first day of tryouts.
DHS Fall Athletes: if you plan to participate in a winter sport, stop by the Athletic Office to pick up a new copy of your athletic clearance card for the first day of winter tryouts. Also, available at the Sports Physical Paperwork Nights.
TODAY:
On Monday, November 4th in the DHS Career Center at lunchtime, Dr. Randall Lee who is a Gastroenterologist with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and an Associate Clinical Professor at UC Davis School of Medicine will discuss "Abdominal Moans and Groans: common reasons for stomach pains in teenagers." Come hear D. Lee speak about this topic and his career as a clinician and as a medical school teacher. Snacks will be served.
NEW/ONGOING/UPCOMING:
Girls in grades 9-12 are invited to an informational meeting about the DHS Girls Rugby Club. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 5 from 7-8pm in the DHS Library. For more info contact: Michelle Vermette at michelle.vermette at gmail.com
Boys' Rugby Club is back at DHS for its second season. Come hear more at an informational meeting for parents and 9th-12th grade players on Thursday, November 7th at 7:00pm in the DHS Library. Contact Head Coach Andy Malpass, at andy at aj-construction.com with questions.
It's time for the French Fun Fact of the Day! Did you know that in France, snails, frog legs, horse meat, raw oysters and duck liver are delicacies? On that note, come join French Club every Tuesday at lunch for a fun, interactive, exciting atmosphere and a taste of culture!
Latinos Unidos: there will be an officers meeting tomorrow, November 5th in room O-5.
Come join the Chinese Club tomorrow in room T-3 for a Chinese movie (with English subtitles). Please wear your club t-shirt or a white shirt.
The Singing Song-Writerz Club is meeting every Wednesday at lunch in room L-20, so come make some music. It will be awesome!
Looking for a fun way to help the community? Come join Manos a la Obra in room O-6 where you'll be making friends and helping your community. You're welcome to come every other Tuesday, hope to see you there amigos!
DHS Drama presents their fall musical, "Pippin" November 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, at 7pm and November 10th at 2pm. Tickets are available on the DHS webstore for $8.00 students (presale) and $10 at the door. All teachers and staff get a 2 for 1 discount. Join us for a night of music, dancing, laughs and a grand finale you won't want to miss!
SENIORS: submit your senior yearbook quote now! Log on to School Loop and send a "Loop Mail" to "ybook quotes." Quotes must be less than 20 words, school appropriate and must cite the author.
Tickets for the 2014 Davis Grad Night Celebration are now available for purchase online through the Davis Grad Night website at http://groups.dcn.org/davisgradnight/tickets. Don't forget to purchase a ticket for your graduating senior -- prices are $75.00 through December 31, 2013 -- then the price goes up to $90.00. Remember, scholarship tickets are also available through school counselors.
Seniors! It's that time of year again! Rent-a-Senior is just around the corner. Applications are now available in C-4 and are due by November 15th!
Girls who volunteer may apply for grant: Girls ages 14 to 17 who volunteer in their community or school are eligible to apply for the Violet Richardson Award, an annual $1,000 grant given by Soroptimist International of Davis. Go to http://www.sidavis.org/awards, or contact Wendy Weitzel at wendyedit at gmail.com. The deadline is Dec. 1.
