THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1965 - Cosmonaut Alexei Leonov became the first man to spacewalk when he left the Voskhod II space capsule while in orbit around the Earth. He was outside the spacecraft for about 20 minutes.

If you are a junior interested in pursuing a career in the energy resources industry, you may want to attend a free summer camp June 23-28, 2013 hosted by Chevron and the USC School of Engineering. The program will introduce high school juniors to career opportunities in fields such as fossil fuels, solar, biofuel, nuclear energy and information technologies. The deadline to apply is April 19. Latinos Unidos is hosting Anti-Discrimination week March 25th - 29th. All that week, there will be fun activities during lunch with music from different cultures. Monday, March 25th is Latinos Unidos day with 97.9 Radio Station and $6 Dos Coyotes burritos in the quad. Hope to see you there!

Upcoming Health Awareness Lecture: Are you interested in a career in the medical profession, or just interested in taking good care of your skin and body? On Tuesday, March 19th at lunchtime in S-5, Dr. Eric Fromer will discuss "Unblemished truths for your skin;" he will cover information on skin cancer/melanoma, impact of tanning, skin aging, acne, tattooing, piercing, nail care and common rashes. Dr. Fromer practices dermatology at the Kaiser Vacaville Medical Center and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the UC Davis Medical Center.
Are you interested in pursuing a career in Fashion, Graphics, Visual Arts, Interior Design or the Entertainment Industry? If so, come to the Career Center on Tuesday, March 19 at lunch to meet with a representative from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

The Finance Office window is open at lunchtime; come inside at other times. Order forms are still available in the office but the orders with payment are due by the end of the day, next Thursday, 3/21. Extra order forms are available on the table in the Front Office.
Would you like an internship this summer? The County of Yolo is offering students ages 15-19 internships in local government from June 10 - August 1. Interns will learn about careers in county government, the services it provides and the benefits of public employment. Come to the Career Center for more information.

SENIORS: If you're planning to attend UCD, have a minimum GPA of 3.5, and you worked at a job during high school, you may qualify for the $12,867 Beeghly-Merritt Scholarship! Applications are now available in the Career Center. The deadline to apply is April 9!
Don't forget, sophomores and juniors, Friendship Day facilitator applications are out and ready to get filled. Be sure to apply before March 27 if you want to be a facilitator!

Students interested in pursuing a career in Veterinary Medicine are invited to attend UC Davis' School of Veterinary Medicine "Future Day" on Sunday, April 28 from 8:30-3:00. Future Day is a free event for students and will focus on veterinary medicine and interactive labs. The event is free and includes a light breakfast. Come to the Career Center for more information.
It's time for The City of Davis' annual So-Cal Safari College Tour for high school students the week of April 4-7 to help teens make the important decision about where to apply. The tour covers five major universities - UC Santa Cruz, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, UC Santa Barbara, University of Southern California and UCLA in Southern California. The tour cost is $490 and includes transportation, college tours, breakfast, dinner and hotels.
