TODAY:  KAISER SPONSORED PROGRAM ON TOBACCO ADDICTION:  Today, March 14 from 1-2:30 pm in the IPAB,  Dr. Victor DeNoble, former research scientist for Philip Morris will present a lecture on brain chemistry and drug addiction.  Dr. DeNoble testified before congress and told the truth about what went on in the tobacco industry to hide the addictive properties of cigarettes.  Dr. DeNoble is a dynamic speaker who has appeared on 60 Minutes, Dateline, and Good Morning America.

On Thursday, March 14, tickets for 'The Breedless Kitsch' are on sale online at dhsdrama.net or at the door starting at 6:30.  Student tickets are half-price $4. with student ID,  adults are $16.  There are also performances on March 15th and 16th at 7:00 pm. Pre-sale tickets are also available during lunch in the finance office.

NEW:   Come visit Travis Air Force Base with the Aeronautical Association.  Come to N-3 on Tuesdays during lunch to learn more about aviation and this fun field trip!

Would you like to learn more about West Point?  Kate Stark, a former DHS student, will be available in the Career Center on Monday, March 18 at lunch to discuss her experiences at West Point and to answer your questions.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

E Payment for the senior panoramic picture can be made online to www.mylifetouch.comm<http://www.mylifetouch.comm>   or dropped off at the Finance Office, in a sealed Lifetouch order envelope.  The Finance Office window is open at lunchtime; come inside at other times. Order forms are still available in the office but the orders with payment are due by the end of the day, next Tuesday, 3/19.  Extra order forms are available on the table in the Front Office.

CLUBS: CSFers!  We have another general meeting this Friday, the 15th at lunch in P-13, Ms. O'Brien's room.  Be sure to come get your CSF projects and your attendance requirements.  We will also be talking about new officer elections, so come listen if you are interested in being an officer next year.  See you Friday!

It's not too late to join the Davis Lady Rugby Team!  Practice on Mondays through Thursdays, 4:00 - 6:00 at the field behind the public library and North Davis Elementary.

ONGOING/UPCOMING EVENTS:  Did you miss the Summer Activities and Scholarship Fair on Tuesday?  Don't worry - all information and applications available at the fair for scholarships, jobs, summer programs, internship and volunteer opportunities can be found in the Career Center. Get the Red Out!  Our second blood drive of the year will take place on Friday, 3/15.  Giving blood takes approximately one hour from start to finish and is safe and easy.  To donate blood, you must be at least 16, weight at least 110 and be free from cold or flu symptoms for at least 48 hours.  If interested, please sign up on the quad at lunch or at the nurse's office one day this week before Friday.  Walk-ins are accepted only if you are 18 or older.  For more information, see Ms. Youtsey, the school nurse.



SENIORS:  If you're planning to attend UCD, have a minimum GPA of 3.5, and you worked at a job during high school, you may qualify for the $12,867 Beeghly-Merritt Scholarship!  Applications are now available in the Career Center.  The deadline to apply is April 9!

Don't miss Break the Record Night on Friday, March 15.  JV plays at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:00.  Tommy J's, Peet's Coffee, Cenarios Pizza and Jamba Juice will be at the game!  Come support Men's Lacrosse, Advance Treble Choir, Pep Band your very own Dance Team this Friday night!

Upcoming Health Awareness Lecture: Are you interested in a career in the medical profession, or just interested in taking good care of your skin and body?  On Tuesday, March 19th at lunchtime in S-5,  Dr. Eric Fromer will discuss "Unblemished truths for your skin;" he will cover information on skin cancer/melanoma, impact of tanning, skin aging, acne, tattooing, piercing, nail care and common rashes. Dr. Fromer practices dermatology at the Kaiser Vacaville Medical Center and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the UC Davis Medical Center.

Don't forget, sophomores and juniors, Friendship Day facilitator applications are out and ready to get filled.  Be sure to apply before March 27 if you want to be a facilitator!

Students interested in pursuing a career in Veterinary Medicine are invited to attend UC Davis' School of Veterinary Medicine "Future Day" on Sunday, April 28 from 8:30-3:00.  Future Day is a free event for students and will focus on veterinary medicine and interactive labs.  The event is free and includes a light breakfast.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

It's time for The City of Davis' annual So-Cal Safari College Tour for high school students the week of April 4-7 to help teens make the important decision about where to apply.  The tour covers five major universities -   UC Santa Cruz, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, UC Santa Barbara, University of Southern California and UCLA in Southern California.  The tour cost is $490 and includes transportation, college tours, breakfast, dinner and hotels.
