ATHLETICS: Davis High summer Volleyball camp: June 17-20th @ Davis High South Gym
Youth camp: K-8th grade, 8-10am; Team camp: 9-12th grade, 11-2pm This camp is open to both boys and girls and is a great way to meet the Davis High coaches and other guest coaches. All girls and boys planning on trying out for DHS volleyball next year should sign up for the team camp. Other youth interested in learning the basic fundamental skills of volleyball, sign up for the youth camp. There are 2 ways to register: ONLINE through the Davis High website www.davisseniorhigh.net<http://www.davisseniorhigh.net> -Click on "Pay Online" and select your camp choice OR Log onto the Davis High Volleyball website http://groups.dcn.org/dhsvolleyball -Download and print the Registration form.
LUNCH CHOICES: Hamburger on bun with lettuce and tomato or Chicken Patty on whole wheat bun with roasted cauliflower or fresh veggie pizza.
On Friday, June 7, the remaining reserved-seat tickets for graduation will be sold at the stadium box office for $8. Standing room only entry will also be sold. The box office will be open at 5:00 pm and the stadium will open at 6:00.
Important! Graduation Rehearsal:
* Reminder that mandatory graduation rehearsal begins at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, June 7th at Halden Field at the Ron & Mary Brown Stadium. Report to the field and find your chair.
* Rehearsal will continue until all graduates are prepared for the evening's festivities.
* Water will be provided for all graduates.
* Dress for the weather! The forecast is for 100 degrees. Wear sunscreen.
Commencement:
* Grads must report to the North Gym by 6:15 p.m. to line-up. The processional will begin at 7:15 p.m. The actual ceremony starts at 7:30 p.m.
* Water will be provided for all graduates.
* DSHS does not allow any umbrellas, balloons or other items that might block visibility on the field or in the stadium at graduation.
* Please do not alter or decorate your cap or gown in any way.
* Appropriate footwear must be worn. Thin heels that damage the surface of the field or shoes that are unsafe will need to be changed before the ceremony begins.
* We expect your behavior to be dignified at the ceremony. This is a celebration for you, your friends, and your family.
NEW: Seniors: IT IS NOT TOO LATE- to request your FINAL TRANSCRIPT to be sent to the college you will be attending. Bring in a stamped, self-addressed envelope to the Transcript Counter and follow the posted instructions. If your common application college is requesting submission of a final report, you will need to make a request at the transcript counter. Stamped addressed envelope not needed.
ONGOING/UPCOMING: Attention thespians: do you have summer plans? Acme Theatre Company is producing Shakespeare's famous 'Romeo and Juliet.' Auditions for high school students are June 6th and 7th @ DHS. For more information, please contact Stage Manager, Deanna Gee by emailing stagemanager at acmetheatre.net<mailto:stagemanager at acmetheatre.net> for monologue and audition packets and more information about the show.
The west side of the DHS MPR Staff parking lot was closed on June 3 for demolition staging with a full close-down of the lot on June 7. Please use other Staff parking areas.
Students wishing to purchase yearbooks can come to the Finance Office at lunch. Caps, gowns, tassels, etc. are available for pick-up in the Finance Office during lunch and after school.
Summer Sizzler Unitrans passes are on sale in the Finance Office for $15. The pass is valid from June 1 through August 15 for unlimited rides on any Yolobus route!
Seniors! Come to Grad Night 2013! The tickets cover food, drinks and entertainment. Scholarships are available through school counselors. This event is an all-night party for graduating DJUSD Seniors! Kindergarten photos can be scanned using high resolution and sent to kindergartenphotos at davisgradnight.org<mailto:kindergartenphotos at davisgradnight.org>. If mailing the photo, send to P.O. Box 2143, Davis, CA 95617. If you wish it to be returned, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with a telephone number.
Sophomores and juniors, do you love to dance? Then start practicing over the summer for the Jazz Choir's 4th annual dance competition on Oct. 5th! You can compete solo or with a friend to win cash prizes. Any style of dance is fine. More information will be available when school begins in August.
